Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Willa

The sight of who was standing right before my eyes shocked me.

The lady I came across at the store the last time was right here in my house.

How did she know where I lived?

After what seemed like a moment of silence between us, she shoved me aside and came into the house.

I closed the door behind her and asked who she was looking for. But rather I got no reply from her.

She was busy looking around the living room.

I was already getting impatient by her attitude.

"How may I help you?" I asked her again moving closer to where she stood.

She looked at me with disgust and went to take her seat without being offered one before answering.

"I'm here to see Damian" she replied.

"Damian?" I asked again.

"Yes, Damian. Or is he not around?" she asked

"He is around. I will go and call him" I said.

I went to inform Damian that he has a guest and I found my way back to the living room.

I was eager to know who the lady was and how she was related to Damian.

Damian

I went downstairs to see who the guest was because I wasn't expecting anyone.

On getting to the living room, I was shocked at who the guest was.

For a minute, I was frozen at the spot I stood.

This was the last person I was expecting to see.

Vivian.

Seeing her now reminded me of our past relationship.

FLASHBACK BEGINS

I just got admitted into college then and I came across Vivian who happened to be in the same class as me but got into college through scholarship.

She was a beautiful young lady and her beauty would often grab the attention of any guy around her.

I fell in love with her the first time I saw her.

I thought within myself to approach her and try my luck even if she will later turn me down.

I met her one time after class and I made my feelings known to her.

To my surprise, she was also in love with me and it didn't take a long time for both of us to start dating.

I ensured I showered her with lots of love because she was my first love and I was ready to do anything to satisfy her.

When we both graduated from college, I thought of starting my own company from scratch and not depend on my father.

It wasn't easy as all the money I had went into the business I ventured into and Vivian kept making high demands which I couldn't meet up with anymore.

She started giving me attitude when I couldn't meet up with her demands.

Despite that, I didn't stop loving her. My love for her continued to grow.

One faithful day, I went to Vivian's house and what I saw left me heartbroken.

She was making out with my best friend, Ben.

I broke up with her right at her house.

She pleaded with me not to that it was the work of the devil but I wasn't ready to listen to her pleas.

I avoided her like a plague but the scene of her and Ben making out didn't leave my head.

I had to return back to my father's house with the hope that I would forget everything.

FLASHBACK ENDS

Seeing her now after three years we broke up brought back old memories.

Despite the hurt, I realized a part of me still loved her and cared for her.

I cleared my throat in order to get her attention since she hasn't seen me yet.

"Vivian" I called out.

She looked at me and smiled.

Her smile was still beautiful like before but I didn't let it get into me.

"Hi, Damian" she greeted.

She moved closer to where I stood and hugged me. I felt the urge to hug her back but I had to stopped myself.

When she finally pulled off from the embrace which was taking forever, she went to have her seat and I followed behind her.

No one said anything to each other.

After a while, I finally broke the silence.

"How did you know where I lived, Vivian?" I asked her.

"I asked a friend of mine who lived around your estate so she gave me your house address" she said.

"Oh…" I said since I don't know what to say.

"What should I offer you? Juice, Wine?" I asked.

"Nothing, I'm fine" she said.

"Alright then" I said.

With that, silence emerged again.

We kept on looking at each other with different thought running through our mind.

A part of me wanted to ask her why she suddenly resurfaced at my house after all these years.

Before I could ask, I noticed a tear dropped from her eyes.

"What's wrong, Vivian?" I asked with care clearly visible in my voice.

"It's nothing, Damian" she replied trying to avoid having eye contact with me.

If I hadn't known her well enough, I would have believed her but I was certain something was wrong.

"Something is wrong. You know you can always talk to me" I told her with all sincerity in my heart.

Suddenly, she burst into tears.

She explained how Ben had been maltreating her since they got married to each other.

Ben poisoned her heart against Damian and deceived her into getting married to him.

She got pregnant for him but later lose the baby. Since then, she wasn't able to conceive anymore and Ben had made life a living hell for her.

He would always beat her up at any opportunity he gets and even bring girls to his matrimonial bedroom.

All her effort to make him change proved abortive as the situation only worsened.

She had to resort to divorcing him and start a new life afresh.

I was moved by her story.

I hate to see her cry and seeing her eyes full of tears right now saddened my heart.

I stood up from where I sat and sat beside her.

I began to console her and hugged her till she was calm.

After I was sure she was calm, I pulled away and we discussed about other things.

After a while, Vivian spoke up.

"Can I sleep over at your house?" she asked.

I was flabbergasted.
