Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Willa

I was in the dressing room pondering over my so-called wedding that's happening today. I was at the verge of crying but I had to restrain myself so as not to ruin the makeup on my face.

The makeup artist did a great job in hiding my sad face.

I heard the door open and I turned my back to see who it was and it turned out to be my dad. I looked away instantly.

He walked up to me smiling and said "My daughter, you look absolutely beautiful"

I didn't reply then he continued "You will soon be called because your wedding is starting in the next few minutes"

"Be yourself when you get outside. A lot of eyes will be on you and ensure you give them your best smile." He added

When he saw that I didn't respond to any of his words, he smiled at me and walked away.

I started wondering if this man was truly my father because no father will do such a thing to his daughter and still be happy.

I was lost in my thought when a maid walked in and informed me the wedding has started. I stood up and she escorted me to the hall.

Immediately I entered the hall, I had to put on a smiling face in order to hide my sadness from people. I noticed my father was looking at me but I pretended not to see him.

The maid directed me to where I would seat and written on the chair was bride and groom chair written boldly. I thanked her and she left.

By my right was my husband-to-be sitting down comfortably with a cold face. He didn't even glance a look at me.

I wondered inwardly if this was the husband I'm getting married to.

I cleared my throat to greet him.

"Hi, Damian" I said but he didn't respond. I thought he didn't hear me at first so I decided to greet him again.

"Hi, Damian" I greeted again but all I received was silence. I left him alone and concentrated on my wedding.

As the wedding was going on, the priest called I and Damian to come out and exchange our wedding vows. I was reluctant at first but when I looked beside me, Damian wasn't there anymore. He was now standing close to the priest.

I stood up and went to stand opposite him and we exchanged our vows.

The priest called my name and asked "Willa, do you take Damian as your lawfully wedded husband?"

This is the question I have been fearing to answer. Deep down, I don't to marry Damian but do I have a choice?

I looked around me and my eyes landed on my father who looked at me with a pity face and mouthed yes to me.

I returned my gaze back to the priest and I smiled at him before replying "Yes, I do".

The priest smiled back at me and asked Damian the same question.

He looked at me with disgust on his face which made me shiver a bit but I quickly compose myself. He then replied the priest.

The priest finally pronounced us husband and wife.

The rest of the wedding was eventful and when it was time to go home, I and Damian entered the car and the driver drove us home. Throughout the ride home, none of us spoke to each other.

Damian

Immediately I got to the hall where my wedding was been held, I sat down on the chair dedicated to I and my soon-to-be-wife.

Not quite long, I saw Willa coming from afar. She looked beautiful in the wedding gown. The dress hugged perfectly to her body bringing out her shape.

I quickly recovered from the stupid thought I was having about her.

She got to where I sat and took her seat. She greeted me and I didn't respond.

She greeted me again and this infuriated me. Does she not understand that I don't want to speak to her? Why is she greeting me again?

When she saw that I wasn't responding to her greetings, she kept quite and concentrated on the wedding.

Minutes later, we were called by the priest to come and exchange our vows. I stood up immediately not waiting for Willa to stand up. She can walk so she should find her way to the front.

I got to where the priest stood and Willa came as well. We exchanged our vows and the priest asked her if she takes me as her lawfully wedded husband.

I saw the hint of fear written all over her face but I do not care. This is not the time to feel pity for anybody. She should have opposed this marriage from onset.

She finally said yes and the priest looked at me and asked "Do you Damian, take Willa as your lawfully wedded wife?"

I looked at Willa disgustingly. She does not know what she is about to go through by accepting to be my wife.

I took my gaze away from her and landed it on the priest and replied him "Yes, I do"

The priest then announced to everyone "I pronounce you both husband and wife."

After the wedding came to an end, I went home with Willa. Throughout the ride back home, I didn't bother speaking to her or glancing at her. It was a silent ride throughout.

Immediately we got home, I came down from the car and took my leave without waiting for her.

I went straight to the bar and took a bottle of alcohol and gulp it down at one go. I was about taking another one when Willa came in.

She stood in the living room like a statue. I ignored her and continued to drink. When she saw that I wasn't paying attention to her, she took her leave and went upstairs.

I continued drinking and was pondering on how life will be with my wife.

"I'm very sure there won't be peace in this house" I said to myself.

"I will frustrate her till she leaves" I thought inwardly.

"Her presence alone in this house irritates me" I said out, loud enough for her to hear.

I drank the second bottle of alcohol and wanted to drink another but left it.

I started thinking about how I will make Willa's stay in my house her worst nightmare.

After I was done thinking, I stood up to go to my room and freshen up before having a long sleep.

Immediately I got to my room, I found Willa there, she was about entering the bathroom. What does she think she is doing?

"What are you doing here?" I asked her angrily.
