Chapter 85 - A Bonus for Friendship

Kaori and Nao walked nervously to Amai's shop. They entered the familiar door and a bell jingled to signal their arrival. Upon glancing around, they noticed that the once-bustling shop was now empty.

The only sign of life was one young man, scrambling to fix his wares.

"Oh!"

Looking up from his counter, Amai greeted the two girls with a smile. "Welcome back, friends."

A chuckle left his lips...

"...It seems like our parting will be a pleasant one."

Kaori smiled in reply to Amai's words, "I never wished for it to be a foul experience, Amai. Please feel free to visit us again in the future."

"Indeed," Nao nodded at her younger sister's words. "Should you have anything to sell, the Kazekage would appreciate a visit."

Amai placed two black boxes on the counter. "Tell Rasa-sama that I appreciate the hospitality. I will definitely return here one day. After all, I wish to see this village thrive despite its adversities."

"Now," Amai pushed the boxes forward, "Shall we?"

Nao and Kaori each stepped forward, placing a vial down for Amai to receive.

Amai did so with finesse. He grasped the fragile vials, showcasing immense dexterity as he examined their contents without popping open the stopper.

'Though I don't have any way to confirm anything, I trust these two enough. Indeed, forming a friendship is important in deals such as these.'

Though, Suguru still doubted the authenticity of these two vials of blood, getting these Kekkei Genkai was simply a performance. He didn't value the transaction as much as creating a precedent.

Thus...

"I've confirmed your payment." Amai gestured, "Please, take one box each."

Kaori and Nao held the boxes in their hands. It was surprisingly light. However, the weight of these boxes came with their implications.

"Now," Amai clapped and two notebooks appeared in his hands, "Here are your user manuals. Please read them before implanting the Sharingan into yourselves. It will help you make use of such a special Kekkei Genkai in the future."

Amai's smile was pure and gentle, surprising Nao and earning Kaori's admiration.

"I don't want you two to die because of this Sharingan transaction. Instead, I want to see the two of you use those eyes to the fullest." He took out a withered leaf.

"Think, the Copy Ninja, Hatake Kakashi."

Kaori and Nao left Amai's shop feeling a vague sense of expectation. They found a place to hide, prepared for them by the Kazekage himself. This was to ensure that Amai's organization wouldn't try anything funny.

Although Kaori trusted Amai a lot, Nao and Rasa still had their reservations.

"...It really is the Sharingan," Nao shook, still in disbelief.

Kaori was trembling in excitement, "I knew it. Amai isn't the type to scam people."

The two sisters looked at each other and smiled. Now that they were sure that Amai was trustworthy, they felt a huge weight disappear. They both took out the handbooks that Amai had given them and began reading.

They flipped to the page that stuck out like a sore thumb. At the top of this page, the words [READ FIRST], were a glaring blood red.

The two began reading.

[Kaori has the left eye and Nao has the right. Although the orientation doesn't matter when implanting these eyes, I am not entirely sure what will happen if you do switch the placement.]

[Now, do keep in mind that using your Sharingan will take a great toll on your body and your chakra reserves. Kaori, when you use your Sharingan, it would be best if you do so only in small bursts. Although Nao, you can use yours more liberally, please don't overuse it.]

[You two aren't of Uchiha blood. Be careful. Otherwise, you'll be bedridden for days.]

[Finally, you may turn to page 3 if you ever need a list of the Sharingan's abilities.]

[Happy hunting!]

Suguru had been watching Kaori and Nao ever since they left Amai's shop. The latter had some more items to pack before he could go. Thus, Suguru could only send a clone.

He watched as the pair took turns, taking out each other's eyes using special medical equipment. With their Medical Ninjutsu, they then healed themselves to expedite the process.

"Nice," Suguru's smile was a subtle one. "I hope they can muddy the waters enough,"

If they mastered their Sharingan to a great degree, Suguru was tempted to gift them some of Hashirama's cells. Unfortunately, not even he had access to those at the moment.

"Eventually..." Suguru muttered. He then deactivated his Kaisu-Shinrakugan and disappeared into a cloud of smoke.

When the relevant memories returned to the main body, Suguru smiled. He had already emptied his shop and prepared to disappear.

However, his destination wasn't the land beyond Sunagakure. No, Suguru flickered rapidly towards the Kazekage's office. With unparalleled swiftness, he placed another black box in Rasa's window.

Inside that box was another pair of Sharingan.

'Doing this should alleviate some of the pressure that Kaori and Nao might face, should Rasa go wild.'

Chuckling, Suguru had also left a note for Rasa to read.

[The Tsukamoto sisters are under my protection. Their Sharingan eyes are theirs, and theirs alone. May these eyes serve as a token of my gratitude for your hospitality.]

With that, Suguru's existence vanished from Sunagakure.

'My chakra reserves are quite large... but still insufficient.' Suguru thought as a single flicker transported him a massive distance through the open desert. Without having to account for any obstacles, his speed was staggering.

'I still need more before I reach Naruto's level...'

Nay... Suguru required much, much more.

Thus, he returned to the Land of Rivers. A grin began to spread across his face. He had nothing against the Land of Rivers other than the fact that it was the most convenient place to devour chakra.

This time, he started from the Northern lands, far from Tanigakure and near the 'highway' between the Land of Wind and the Land of Fire.

The border between the Land of Rivers and Amegakure.

Suguru licked his lips. A settlement had appeared in his Kaisugan's range, more than fifty kilometers away.

"A meal, after so long."

The Ghost of the Land of Rivers had returned.
