Chapter 1 - Shattering Post-Chaos

October 10, the night of Naruto's birth.

Kagami Suguru watched, in a daze, as the Fourth Hokage and the red-haired Uzumaki Kushina perished while protecting their child. The sleeping baby, the newborn jinchuriki... Clueless to the happenings around him.

"Shiki Fuujin..." Suguru muttered while his thoughts were still in disarray. The restriction that only the user and its target could see the ghastly reaper did not count him.

Suguru's eyes, which reflected the tragedy before him, had shimmered with curiosity. The devouring of the Fourth Hokage's soul, the chains of the Uzumaki clan, The Third Hokage, Hiruzen nearby, and the other shinobi, still overflowing with terror. All were somehow within his gaze.

—Crack.

"I see,"

The blood, the hate, the rage. The boiling chakra that was forced into the body of the newborn.

The sorrow of those before him flowed into his eyes, shattering what once was pure. The new soul that possessed the body of this child looked on with lifelessness.

"It's more brutal than what was drawn now, isn't it?"

Suguru looked elsewhere, and his vision returned. The Kyuubi in the distance had disappeared. The village was in shambles. He looked around the unfamiliar scenery, and his shattered irises fluttered about the details of havoc.

Splintered wood and piles of rubble carved out the traces of battle. No... perhaps it was the other way around. The claws of the Kyuubi had dug out sharp scratches that scarred the village. The Tailed Beast Balls had created trenches that spanned the length of the battlefield.

The smell of death permeated the air like a fog, lingering about the silent people.

Suguru glanced down. Two bodies lay before him, crushed under the weight of his home.

"Ah, so these should've been my parents." Suguru couldn't help but grimace as he pulled out the memories of his predecessor.

A crushed human looked disgusting beyond compare. It was clear to him now that the crimson splatter contained more than just blood. Suguru could feel his dinner threatening to climb back up.

However, he held it in. Not because he was resilient, no.

But because he found this situation thought-inducing. It was a twisted sense of intrigue.

"So this is the world I've been thrown into..? Damn," Straight from a peaceful life on modern Earth to a world full of schemes and murder.

Suguru blinked, "...I guess these eyes are my bonus?"

Shattered pupils of grey, bleeding between its cracks. Suguru just now realized that blood had been dripping down his cheeks. He shut his eyes tight, trying his best to silence the burning pain of his gaze.

Unfortunately for him, that made the pain worse.

"Ack!"

Suguru slammed his palms into his eyes. It felt as if a thousand needles were drilling themselves into his brain, using his eyes as their highway.

"Fuck!" Curses flew out. "Make this stop!"

Yet the pain continued to increase. Tears of blood flowed and flowed.

Suguru forced his eyes open as if he was tearing his eyelids out. Suddenly, the pain waned. Chakra leaked out of his eyes, soothing them with a cold sensation.

"What the hell? Am I not allowed to close my eyes?" This was his instant deduction.

Then, almost instinctually, Suguru controlled the flow of chakra. Suddenly his viewpoint shifted.

"What—?"

Jolted, Suguru froze. He was face-to-face with a young child with long, silver hair and soft yet devious features. As Suguru straightened up, so did the child in front of him.

"Ah..." He gasped, realizing the situation. "I'm looking at myself."

Suguru blinked again, this time growing familiar with the chakra flow in his eyes. His gaze returned to normal as he wondered what he was doing when the Kyuubi was sealed into Naruto's body.

Curious, he set his gaze into the distance again. The light that shone through the darkness allowed him to watch as the Third Hokage made stern commands. Sarutobi Hiruzen picked up the baby Naruto and handed the child to an Anbu shinobi.

The world was silent, yet it was clear.

"Curious indeed," Suguru muttered as he closed the figurative chakra faucet within his eyes.

Everything went back to normal. Furthermore, he could close his eyes properly this time.

"Thank god, I can deactivate these eyes. This is good, this is good." A nervous chuckle escaped him as he walked over to a broken mirror. Looking at his dead, grey eyes which had become whole again, Suguru further sighed in relief.

Konohagakure was growing noisy once more. The daze that consumed its people due to the sudden appearance and disappearance of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox was slowly losing its effect. However, a deep emptiness had fallen upon their hearts.

The winds carried the cries of an entire village.

Many had lost those who they loved on this tremulous night. Suguru sat down, resting his head on the cracked stone wall.

A sigh escaped his lips as he looked up.

"Hehe," Suddenly, a wicked grin broke through. "Finally, a place where I can let loose."

"Kagami Suguru, son of Kagami Rei and Housuka Ayumi?"

Suguru's eyes twitched when he heard his name and the name of his parents. He struggled to open his eyes, waking himself from a deep slumber. When he did, sunlight shone straight into his pupils.

"Ack!" Suguru almost cursed. "Don't wake me up when you're standing in front of the sun you motherfu—"

Suguru choked when his eyes adjusted. The characteristic green Chuunin vest met his eyes so he swallowed back his curses.

"Haha," An innocent laugh.

Unfortunately, Suguru was not the best at hiding his nature. The shinobi squinted behind his round black glasses. If not for the fact that Suguru's parents' bodies were right beside him, he would've been annoyed.

"...Are you okay?" The shinobi said, calming himself down. However, he had gone off-script because of his shock.

Suguru tilted his head. What kind of question was that? He began staring at the remnants of his parents and the dried blood stains that scattered out from their bodies.

"..." The shinobi was speechless as he saw what Suguru was looking at.

Suguru looked back at the shinobi. His eyes were shimmering with innocence as if to ask, 'What do you think?'

The shinobi's lips twitched. He realized his mistake.

"I— I'm sorry for your loss..."
