Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Leonard's eyes widened in shock at the scene before him. Nana was rubbing her forehead, trying to hold back tears from the pain. She failed, and her oceanic eyes glistened with tears. Leonard unhooked his seatbelt and got out of the car, intent on finding the person who had hit them from behind. However, when he reached the back of the car, the other driver was gone. Leonard scoffed, taking a picture of the car and its plate number.

He returned to the car, where Nana was still rubbing her forehead, which now had a visible bump. "Stop it," he said, gently holding her hand. "Does it hurt?" he asked, softly massaging the spot. Nana nodded repeatedly, like a child, as tears streamed down her cheeks. "Let's get you to a hospital," Leonard stated, starting the car again. Nana muttered, "I'm scared of hospitals." Leonard asked, unsure if he had heard correctly, "What?" Nana replied, "I don't like hospitals."

Leonard chuckled, "So, the girl who isn't afraid to break school dress code is scared of a needle?" Nana looked adorable with her swollen forehead and pouty lips. "It's not that little," she scoffed, her hand returning to rub her forehead. Leonard offered, "If I bring the hospital to you, promise to follow the doctor's instructions and mine. If I say stay in bed, you do just that." Nana nodded repeatedly, curious about how he would bring the hospital to her.

A few minutes later, Leonard's car arrived at Star Pavilion. Nana tried to unhook herself, but Leonard warned, "Remember your promise? To always follow my instructions." He smirked, and Nana longed to wipe the smile off his face. Leonard got out, went around to Nana's side, and carried her out in a bridal style.

"I can walk," she protested.

"I don't want you to!"

"My legs are fine; I injured my head, not my legs." Leonard retorted sarcastically, "Are you sure? Then why are you rambling and protesting so much?" Nana remained quiet, unable to refute his suggestion that she was mad. He carried her inside, dropping her when they reached her room.

"You can open your eyes now."

She had used her hands to cover her face when they walked into the house. She peeked from in between her fingers, only when she was sure they were in her room; did she remove her hands from her face.

Leonard chuckled at her silliness. "I'll be right back." He said, patting her on the head and leaving the room.

Once he was gone, Nana blushed red using a pillow to cover up her face.

Back in his room, Leonard pulled out his phone; dialing a number.

"How fast can you get here?" He asked immediately if the person picked up.

"Courtesy demands you greet and at least ask how I am doing." The receiver scoffed.

"You are not worth my greetings." Leonard answered.

It was clear that he had a close relationship with the caller.

"I ask again, how fast can you get here?" He repeated his question, changing out of his work clothes.

"The next 10 minutes, I think. " The caller answered.

"Make it 5." Leonard ordered.

"I don't have a choice, do I? I'll make it 5."

"Good, now get off my phone." Leonard snapped, ending the call. A sly smile gracing his lips as he left his room to Nana's.

They stayed in different rooms because she insisted on it when they first got married. In her words "I won't be sharing a room with you, a reason best known to her."

He was glad that she's beginning to change though, and wishes it stays like this.

"What do you want to have for dinner?" Leonard asked, when he got to her room. He found her wrapped inside a blanket.

"Nana." He called, walking to the side of the bed; he pulled the blanket off, only to find her shivering underneath. Her body temperature was hot. Leonard sat on the bed beside her, carrying her in his arms.

"You were fine a minute ago, what happened?" He asked, sounding worried.

"My body doesn't do well when it's cold." She replied, snuggling into him and inhaling his cologne.

Leonard sighed, holding her close. If Victor wasn't here in the next two minutes, finding why he doesn't have a job in T city is simple.

Two minutes later, the doorbell rang. Leonard had already informed Martha, the head maid, to let him in.

"I know you didn't call to catch up with your best friend." Victor says as soon as he's directed to Nana's room.

His eyes widening in shock on seeing Nana in his arms. "Hold up, is that another woman in your arms or the infamous Nana who wants nothing to do with you?"

"Shut up and run a check on her." Leonard says, glaring daggers at him.

Victor raises his hands up in surrender, "...as I'm told," he says with a smirk, setting his medical bag down on the bedside table. He begins to examine Nana, with Leonard watching.

Few minutes later, he was done.

"She has a history with cold, I'll take it she was exposed to it. I gave her a few medications for the cold. The bump from the accident will go over time. A little bit of tonics here and there and she's back on her feet. Victor says packing up his bag, Leonard nods; covering Nana with a blanket. Victory watches the interaction and shakes his head.

"Let's go." Leonard says after he's done.

They both walk out, down to the sitting room.

"What changed?" Victor asks, once they're alone.

Leonard shrugs, saying nothing.

"You don't feel it's weird?" He asks again.

"Why don't you mind your business and get married? If you put more of the time you use to ask questions, you might be more successful than me." Leonard scoffs.

Victor rolls his eyes at his friend's sarcastic reply. He and Leonard have been friends for 20 years, they met when they were 8. From there on, they've had each other's backs. Victor Reynolds of the prestigious Reynolds family, his family were the second wealthiest in the country. Rumor had it that they were only friends because of their families. They had it all wrong, there was more to it.

"Don't get heartbroken, we still have that thing on our hands." Victor said as he was about to leave
