Chereads / The CEO Insists His Son Is Mine / Chapter 21 - Hospital 2

Chapter 21 - Hospital 2

"If there are suspicions about the medical records, send a team out to look into it, don't leave it all to the doctor," Cesare ordered Archibald.

Nodding towards Cesare, he simply replied, "a team has already been assigned, sir. I have already taken the liberty of selecting some of our better hackers too look into it."

The scowl on Cesare's face softened slightly, grateful for his secretary's competence.

Seeing his boss motioning for him to continue, Archibald looked down at his notes as he pushed up his glasses.

"Looking into miss Valentina's condition, it is most likely that she has lost her memories…"

"How severe is the amnesia? Has she forgotten everything?"

"It would seem so, Sir. The intel we have gathered so far seems to point to this being the only option. There are too many weird incidents and circumstances for it to be just a pretence…"

"What about Alessandro, does he know? Does she remember him?"

"From what we have gathered, they have not met up in the last five years. It's too early to conclude, but it would reason that she does not remember him either. From what I was told from the security team that rescued them, Alessandro introduced himself by a fake name; Amon."

"Do we know why he gave a fake name?"

"No, unfortunately not, sir. Though he has remained inside his own hospital room, I have not had the time to question him yet. And I wanted to bring it to you first, as I wasn't sure if you wanted me to question him, or if you might want to do it yourself?"

Cesare nodded and contemplated for a moment before responding, "you did well in not questioning him first. Knowing how utterly loyal he is to Valentina; he probably wouldn't answer to you. I will try to talk to him myself later, depending on the situation."

Archibald nodded, before noting the new instructions down in his notes. As he wrote down his notes, Cesare asked him a new question,

"And Ethan? Does she at least remember him?" his voice was lower now, looking towards his son's hospital room door, making sure they weren't overheard by the young boy.

"I am sorry sir, but it would seem not," his secretary answered in an equally low voice.

A silence fell between them, lasting for several moments…

"Then," Cesare broke the silence, "when can we tell her?"

Pushing up his glasses, Archibald answered, "I did a quick consultation with a trustworthy psychologist, but she advised against it. She said based on the limited knowledge we have at this time; we cannot be sure about the risks. She would need to find out the reason for miss's amnesia, something that can't be done without observing her for a period of time. The risks…" Archibald trailed off.

"Tell me," Cesare commanded, steeling himself.

"Well," he cleared his throat, "depending on the severity of the case, worst case scenario, her mind might break if told…"

"What the hell does that mean?" Cesare berated, annoyed by how Archibald kept going around in circles. Couldn't he just get to the point?!

"Well, it means miss Valentina might never be able to function like a regular person again. If she is lucky she will go into a comatose state, if unlucky, she might become brain dead… BUT these are only worst-case scenarios," Archibald quickly reassured when he felt the malevolent violence emitting from his boss.

"The psychologist said she would have to meet the madam to be certain. These are just warnings, so we don't commit any fatal mistakes in our hurry to reunite."

Taking a deep breath, trying to reel in his anger, Cesare asked through clenched teeth, "does this mean I can't meet her? Is it safe for her to see me?"

"I asked about this as well, sir. The psychologist said it was not advisable at this moment, as she doesn't know the full situation of miss Valentina. Since she had such a deep relationship and connection with you sir, there might be unlucky developments if she sees you… It would be best not to do anything that might trigger miss Valentina at this time."

"Fine," Cesare growled, turning around and walking back into his son's hospital room. He was done with this conversation! As he walked into the room, he threw over his shoulder, "send the whole report to my computer and make sure this psychologist is here when Valentina awakes. I want her to quickly figure out what the situation is, and when I can actually meet Valentina! Warn her that my patience is limited!"
