Chapter 3: Royal secret.
Finn's eyes locked into mine, his expression grim, "it's a trap," he whispered.
As the cavern erupted into chaos, I knew he had to escape. But, as I turned to run, I felt a hand on my shoulder, holding me back...
After that, everything went blank.
I came to, my head throbbing with pain. I was in a dimly lit room, Finn's face hovering above me.
" Emilia, can you hear me," he whispered urgently.
I nodded, trying to sit up, but wave of dizziness, forcing me back onto the bed.
Finn's eyes narrowed. "You've been poisoned," he said grimly. We need to get you out of here, now."
As he helped me to my feet, I saw Ava standing in the shadows, her expression unreadable.
But it was what lay beyond her that made my blood run cold. A figure cloaked in darkness, watching us with an unblinking gaze.
"Who's that?" I whispered to Finn.
He followed my gaze, his eyes widened in shock. "That's the Queen's most trusted advisor," he whispered back, "Lord Ravenswood."
As I looked into Lord Ravenswood eyes, I saw something there that made my heart skipped a beat. A secret hidden deep beneath the surface...
Finn's grip on my arm tightened.
" We need to get out of here, now" he urged.
As we stumbled out into the night, I knew I had to uncover the truth. But, little did I know the truth would change everything...
We ran through the winding streets, Finn's grip on my arm tightening as we dodged shadows, leapt over obstacles.
Nuty mind was elsewhere, consumed by the enigmatic of Lord Ravenswood. What was his secret?
As we reached the safety of nearby tavern, Finn pushed me into a corner, his eyes scanning the room.
"Who can trust?" he whispered urgently.
I hesitated, unsure, but then a figure emerged from the crowd.
Ava.
"We can trust her," I said, my voice low.
Finn's eyes narrowed, but he nodded.
Ava approached us, her expression grim. Lord Ravenswood is not what he seems," she said, her voice low. "He's been hiding a secret, one that could bring down the Queen's entire regime."
My heart raced with excitement. "What is it?" I demanded.
Ava hesitated, glancing around the room nervously.
But before she could speak, a commotion erupted outside. Shouts, scream, and steel clash with steel.
Finn's eyes locked onto mine, his expression grim. "It's the Queen's men," he whispered. We have to get out of here, now.
But as we turned to run, I saw Lord Ravenswood standing in the doorway, his eyes gliming with the secret.
When I gained consciousness, my head throbbing with pain, I was in a dark, damp cellar, Finn's face hovering above my head.
" Emilia, can you hear me"? he whispered urgently.
I nodded trying to sit up, but couldn't help fall back as a result of dizziness washing over me, forcing onto the cold stone floor.
Finn's eyes narrowed. "Lord Ravenswood men must have used a strong sedative," he said grimly. " We need to get out of here before they return."
As he helped stand to my feet, I saw Ava standing in the shadows, her expression unreadable.
A series of ancient symbols etched into the wall...
"What are these?" I asked.
He followed my gaze, his eyes widening in shock. "These are the markings of the ancient ones," he whispered back. A secret society thought to be long extinct."
Ava stepped forward, her eyes gleaming with intensity. "Lord is is a member," she said, her voice low. "And he will stop at nothing to keep their secret buried."
As I looked at the symbols, I knew I had stumbled into something much bigger than I could have ever imagined....
Footsteps echoing through darkness...
The footsteps growing and I could sense a presence closing around us. Finn's hand tightened on my arm, his eyes scanning the shadows..
Ava stepped forward, her sword drawn. "Get behind me," she whispered.
But as soon the figure emerged from the darkness, I saw something that made my heart skip a beat. Lord Ravenswood, his eyes gleaming with a fierce intensity.
"You fools," you think you can uncover the secrets of ancient ones? You'll never leave this place alive."
Finnn drew his sword, his eyes locked on Ravenswood. "We will talk our chances," he said grimly.
But as the two men clashed, I saw something that made my blood run cold. Ava, standing frozen, her eyes fixed on Ravenswood with a look of horror...
Lord Ravenswood's eyes faltered, his grip on his sword wavering. And in the moment of hesitation, Finn struck...
As Lord Ravenswood lay defeated, Ava's eyes flashed with a mixed of emotions. Anger, sadness and a hint of fear.
"Why?" she whispered, her trembling. "Why did you keep this secret from me?"
Lord Ravenswood eyes locked onto hers, with a faint smile on his lips. "To protect you my child." He whispered, "the ancient ones, they will stop at nothing to keep their secret buried. Finn's grip on his sword tightened
. "What secrets?" He asked.
But before Lord Ravenswood could answer, a loud rumbling noise echoed through the cellar. The ground began to shake, walls began to tremble.
Ava's eyes went wide "The ancient ones," she said, "they're coming for us."
And as the rumbling grew louder, the symbols on the walls began to glow with an eerie light.
Suddenly, the ground gave way beneath us and we plummeted into darkness...
But as I fell, I heard a faint whisper in my ear, the secrets of the ancient ones will be your downfall...
And then nothing...
