The deeper John ventured into the forest, the thicker the air became. Shadows danced between the towering trees, and the ominous silence made it clear—he had entered territory where only the strongest survived. His wings stretched wide, now powerful enough to lift his massive form effortlessly through the air, his dark scales shimmering in the dim light filtering through the thick canopy.
He could feel it—**Level 16** was within reach. Just one more fight. One more push. And then, he would be on the cusp of **Tier 6**.
The experience bar flashed in his mind.
[**Experience: 95,000/100,000**]
[**Next Level: 5,000 Experience Needed**]
John knew it wouldn't take much. The creatures he had been facing were growing stronger, more dangerous. Even a **Tier 4** monster could push him over the edge now, but he wasn't looking for another easy kill. He needed something bigger, something that would test his limits.
His gaze shifted toward the dark depths of the forest. He had avoided this area for weeks, knowing that it was the hunting ground of creatures that could easily end his life if he wasn't careful. But now, with his power growing by the day, it was time to face what lay within.
As John flew lower, his sharp eyes scanned the ground. His senses were on high alert, his instincts telling him that something dangerous was nearby. And then, he felt it—a powerful surge of energy, deeper in the forest, pulsing like a heartbeat.
He descended quickly, landing with a heavy thud on the forest floor, his claws digging into the earth. The air was thick with the scent of decay and the faint metallic tang of blood. Whatever was out there, it was close.
John advanced carefully, his large form moving silently through the trees. The faint rustle of leaves and the occasional snap of twigs underfoot were the only sounds in the oppressive silence. His wings were folded tightly against his back, ready to spring open at a moment's notice.
Suddenly, a roar shattered the silence, shaking the trees around him. It was a deafening, primal sound, filled with rage and power. John's eyes narrowed as he stepped into a small clearing, his gaze locking onto the source of the noise.
A massive, hulking creature stood in the center of the clearing. Its body was covered in thick, dark fur, and its red eyes burned with fury. It stood on two legs like a man but was easily twice John's size. Its claws were long and jagged, dripping with some dark fluid that sizzled as it hit the ground. Its breath came in heavy, labored bursts, and its muscles rippled beneath its fur.
[**Bloodbeast – Tier 6**]
[Strength: 900]
[Agility: 700]
[Endurance: 1,000]
[Abilities: Frenzy, Regeneration, Blood Rage]
John's eyes widened. A **Tier 6**. This was exactly the kind of challenge he had been looking for. A fight that would push him to his limits. A fight that would give him the experience he needed to break through.
The Bloodbeast let out another roar, its body quaking with power as it charged forward, its massive claws swinging in wide arcs.
John reacted instantly, his wings snapping open as he shot into the air, barely avoiding the creature's first strike. The ground where he had been standing exploded into a cloud of dirt and debris as the Bloodbeast's claws carved through it effortlessly.
John didn't wait. He unleashed his **Flame Breath**, black fire pouring from his maw as he aimed it at the creature's exposed back. The flames engulfed the Bloodbeast, and for a moment, John thought he had the upper hand.
But then the beast roared again, its body glowing red as its **Blood Rage** ability kicked in. The flames burned away, but the creature seemed completely unfazed. Its fur smoldered, but it charged again, faster this time, its claws leaving glowing red trails in the air.
"Damn, it's tough," John muttered, dodging to the side as the Bloodbeast swiped at him again. He needed a different approach.
He landed and shifted into a defensive stance, his wings tucked close as his claws glowed with dark energy. This time, he wouldn't run. This time, he would face it head-on.
The Bloodbeast lunged, its claws aimed directly at John's chest. He met the attack with his own, his **Shadow Claw** slicing through the air as he parried the strike. The impact sent shockwaves through his body, but he held his ground, his claws digging into the beast's forearm.
For a moment, they were locked in a struggle, each trying to overpower the other. But John was faster. He twisted, using the Bloodbeast's momentum against it, and slashed at its side, cutting deep into its flesh.
The beast howled in pain, stumbling backward, but John wasn't done. He leaped into the air, his wings propelling him forward as he aimed a powerful strike at the creature's head. His claws connected, tearing through flesh and bone.
The Bloodbeast staggered, blood pouring from its wounds. But then, its eyes glowed brighter, and the wounds began to close. **Regeneration**.
John cursed under his breath. "This thing just doesn't quit."
He needed to finish it fast, before the regeneration completely healed its injuries. He dove again, this time aiming for the creature's chest. His claws glowed with dark energy as he unleashed his **Abyssal Roar**, the shockwave of dark magic slamming into the Bloodbeast and sending it crashing into a nearby tree.
The impact was brutal, the tree splintering under the force, but the Bloodbeast still wasn't dead. It struggled to its feet, panting heavily, but its regeneration was slowing. It was weakening.
John took his chance. He flew forward with blinding speed, his claws piercing through the Bloodbeast's chest. The creature roared one final time before collapsing to the ground, its body going limp as the life drained from its eyes.
[**Bloodbeast defeated.**]
[**Experience Gained: 80,000.**]
[**Experience: 175,000/100,000.**]
[**Level Up! Current Level: 16.**]
John exhaled heavily, his wings folding against his back as he stood over the defeated beast. The rush of experience flowed through him, his body glowing with newfound power. He had done it. He was one step closer to **Tier 6**.
But as the glow faded, John's eyes drifted back toward the dark forest ahead. The Bloodbeast was strong, but it was only the beginning. Deeper within the forest, far more dangerous creatures lurked, and he could feel their presence.
He had nearly died before from venturing too deep into the forest. Now, with his newfound power, he was ready to face whatever came next.
But he couldn't shake the feeling that something much worse was waiting for him in the darkness.
