Chapter 1 - Prologue: The noble ideal vs the reality check pt1

They call you a hero, standing there with your "prescious" ideals, your- what was it "moral code", BUT LOOK AROUND YOU! How much has that accomplished? A little victory here, a small triumph there, and STILL the world remains broken. People suffer, systems fail, all the while YOU REFUSE to do what's necessary, always cling to your "code"!

Well I'VE seen the truth. To truly change this world, to TURLY fix it- sacrifices must be made. Hard choices, embraced. You can't rebuild without first tearing down. But you- you're too afraid of the cost. You see lose, you see pain, and you hesitate. But I see it for what it really is: progress.

...

Do you think I enjoy this? Do you somehow think I relish in the destruction, the chaos? NO! But I understand that if you want to make a difference, a REAL difference, you can't be afraid of getting blood on your hands. A few will and must suffer so that the many can thrive. The future of our world depends on us doing what you're too weak to do.

...

Do you STILL believe in that fantasy of yours, that you can save everyone? Saving everyone is a luxury we can not afford. I will do what must be done because someone has to. When it's over, and the dust settles the world will be better. But NOT because of you. Because of ME. And some day they will praise me for it.

...

You still don't understand, do you? This isn't about me. It was never about me. My humanity, my sanity- they're nothing compared to the Grand Vision. If I must be the one to lose it all so that the world can be reborn, so be it. My hands will bear the scars, my mind will carry the weight, and my soul- well, if I have to sacrifice it for the greater good, I am willing. Because unlike you, I understand that some things are bigger than one person's soul...

Victory demands a price and I'm willing to pay it, even if it takes the last shred of who I am.
