Chapter 28 - Chapter 11: Where is Mom? (Thanks to the Alliance Hierarch of Star still wearing Iron Armor boots)

Honey Bear thought he was just slightly meddling in the ordinary struggle for power among the noble heirs this time.

Although such matters were always taboo among mercenaries, considering the sincere offer from Fajia and their friendship, it seemed manageable to get involved just this once, and at worst, he would simply avoid Green Field in the future.

What Honey Bear hadn't expected was that ever since they caught up with Ireya, the nightmare had begun.

First, an ugly-faced man, appearing out of nowhere, suddenly went berserk, hacking off a person's right foot with an axe, evidently a hidden expert judging by the speed and force of his attack.

Honey Bear was forced to enter the fray himself, cautiously responding, but before any fight began, there was already trouble with the men he had sent to deal with Ireya and Li Yu.

It was only the second day after the election had ended that Fajia found him.

At that time, Honey Bear had just helped a small mill owner find his wife, who had eloped with someone else, and was returning from outside the city. The incident at the Marquis Mansion had already spread around the city, and due to its dramatic nature, not only the nobles but also the commoners were talking about it enthusiastically.

Honey Bear naturally also heard about the advisor named Merlin, how through recording and releasing sounds with miraculous means, he had revealed the dual-faced nature of a treacherous old noble in a fascinating tale.

However, at that time he merely treated it as amusement and didn't think much of it, although Golden Finger Romero had already identified the techniques used by Li Yu as the miracle of a foreign god.

But foreign gods, on the Bratis Continent, generally weren't much use.

Honey Bear thought that playing with sounds was probably Li Yu's limit, which might work against those hypocritical nobles who spoke grandly of honor yet were more sinister than each other but would be useless against these rough men who respected only swords and money.

Yet now, Honey Bear realized he was wrong.

Not just wrong, but outrageously so.

The strangely dressed foreigner was not just skilled at manipulating sound, but even the thunder and lightning in the sky and the light that awoke the world from darkness were merely toys in his hands.

Honey Bear felt he had been drawn into a terrifyingly grand conspiracy.

And this conspiracy involved those high and mighty gods, something well beyond his ability to meddle in as a mere mortal.

No sooner had this thought surfaced in his mind than Honey Bear began to consider retreating.

But before he could speak to negotiate with the opposite side, that ugly-faced man, appearing out of nowhere, suddenly made his move!

The bastard chose a perfect moment to attack, just when Honey Bear and his men were intimidated by the awe-inspiring exhibition of thunder and light by Li Yu, feeling fearful.

Moreover, he cunningly avoided facing Honey Bear, the strongest among them, opting to target the easier foes first and decapitating a mercenary wielding a great sword with his axe, then without hesitation, he threw the war axe he held.

The war axe spun continuously in the air! It flew faster and faster, tracing a beautiful arc!

Finally, it landed on the face of the mercenary who had first shouted out 'monster'; the latter's attempt to lift his shield was still a beat too slow, and this time, no comrade could save him.

His head was split open by the axe! His eyes were full of terror.

All this happened in the blink of an eye; by the time Honey Bear realized the grave danger, it was too late, even the person standing next to him had been brought down by the Half-Face's confidant, Black Beauty.

From their group of seven, only two were still capable of fighting.

Honey Bear was both shocked and enraged, but the blood and cries of his companions also spurred him on, causing this cunning and experienced mercenary to temporarily forget those unsettling suspicions.

He once again raised the Hand Half Sword in his hands and charged at Half-Face!

The two quickly engaged in combat, and in this moment of life and death, Honey Bear unleashed astonishing fighting power, maximizing the strength and speed advantages of his half-beast nature!

He swung the Hand Half Sword, enveloping it in a halo of blue light, striking fiercely at his opponent.

Half-Face had just lost his most handy weapon and now had no choice but to pick up a heavy sword from the ground to fend off his enemies.

However, he was clearly not used to this two-handed heavy sword. The weight was one thing, but the change in the length of the weapon required him to re-master the control of distance and foot movement.

This also made him look clumsy and fraught with dangers at times.

Nevertheless, he finally managed to block a powerful slash from Honey Bear and, using the momentum, directed the tip of his sword towards Honey Bear's chest and thrust it forward!

Yet Honey Bear quickly stepped back with his left foot while gently swaying his body to dodge Half-Face's stab, then suddenly exerted force, pushing away Half-Face's heavy sword and exposing the flaw in his defense!

A fierce smile appeared on Honey Bear's face as he was about to continue his relentless attacks to avenge his fallen comrade when suddenly everything before him turned blank.

Honey Bear had never imagined that the light, which illuminated everything, would one day devour everything as well!

Although being a seasoned warrior, his instincts still drove him to strike the next sword blow, but unfortunately, his opponent was no ordinary person, whose battle senses were not inferior to his.

Honey Bear's strike missed, and then he felt a chill on his neck.

His head had rolled off his shoulders and fallen to the ground.

"Thank you for your help." Jude, with his still bleeding heavy swords planted in the soil at his feet, gasped for breath as he thanked Li Yu.

"You're welcome, it was just a small effort," Li Yu replied.

By then, Black Beauty had also severed the throat of the man on the ground, while the last remaining member of the mercenary squad had taken early advantage of the chaos to flee in terror.

Li Yu did not chase after him; first, it was dangerous, and secondly, Li Yu remembered his identity. He was a Divine Officer, not a Berserker.

His true reliance was wisdom, knowledge, and modern technology.

Even with the divinity sequence "Reborn," violence was always the last option in his list of alternatives.

However, Ireya clearly did not think the same way.

Miss Rabbit had just witnessed someone wielding a Divine Artifact, brutally dominating the battlefield, summoning thunder and light to harshly lash his enemies.

Even though his opponents had already surrendered, kneeling and crying for mercy, the terrifying man who claimed to be the Prophet showed no mercy at all.

His eyes were cold, his expression stern, and the thunder in his hands did not cease to fall until the wretch had no signs of life left.

It was as if only by doing so could he completely purify the evil soul beneath him.

This was just... terrifying to watch.

Thinking this, the girl even stealthily shifted a bit to the side to put some distance between herself and Li Yu, but soon she saw Half-Face on the other side.

He was standing with one foot on a corpse, reaching out to pull his previously thrown War Axe out of the unfortunate guy's head.

He then wiped the blood off the axe on the corpse.

Noticing Ireya looking at him, he also gave the girl a "friendly" smile.

Miss Rabbit returned the smile, then turned her stiff neck and tightly hugged herself, curling up in a corner, trembling.

Mommy, where are you? Come and save your poor little daughter... The outside world is too cruel!
