On both sides, there were soldiers stationed, amounting to more than a hundred men in total.
By day, they patrolled the riverbanks, observing any changes to the Dayin River's Crouching Dragon Pillars.
When night fell, they would hide in the Pure Land, and a small group of them, carrying the Bright Night Divine Lamp, would patrol along the river.
These people were jointly sent out by the guard armies from the Observatory, Temple, and five main military units of the City Guard Mansion.
The current arrangement was to rotate the duty every three years.
Only when the new city expanded, coming close to the Dayin River, could they withdraw back into the city.
From the city walls, they would be able to clearly see any changes in the Dayin River, and there would no longer be a need for a large number of soldiers to endure hardship here.
