Tong Family looked over at Mr. Chen in the distance and whispered in a voice audible only to the two of them, "Xin Lan, aren't you also planning to have a child with the general?"
"Yes," Xin Lan replied with a slight blush on her cheeks, "there hasn't been any news yet."
In her heart, she fretted. Half a year had passed since the wedding, and although they were active, there was still no sign of pregnancy. She was beginning to worry that there might be something wrong with her, wondering what she would do if she couldn't have children.
"Next time, come with me to Ci Yun Temple," Sister-in-law Tong said, holding her hand. "There are quite a few people there praying for children. I've heard it's very effective. Once you and General Chen have a child, he or she could keep Yu Huan company. Oh, and you should bring General Chen along; I heard it works even better."
"Sure," Xin Lan agreed.
