"Hey, Xiao Yang, where are you off to?"
Lin Yang responded with a laugh and first handed out cigarettes to several elders.
"Well, I'm free this afternoon, just taking a stroll."
After distributing the cigarettes and making some small talk, he headed straight for the village chief's house. Knowing the importance of good relations, he had even bought a good pack of cigarettes at the supermarket before his visit and tucked it into his pocket.
The village chief's house wasn't far, just a few steps away.
Upon entering, he saw the village chief sitting in the courtyard, sipping tea and listening to Yangqin opera, something people of his age enjoyed.
"Village chief, taking a break, I see." Lin Yang greeted him cheerfully.
"Ah, Xiao Yang, what brings you here? Is there something you need?"
He continued, "It's not about the house construction, is it? Don't worry, your dad came over this morning, and everything's settled. I'll just need to report it when I go to the village tomorrow."
