"Stop laughing, I'm serious. Many of my classmates don't score as well as I do, but I don't think that makes me better than them. For example, my teammates Lin Wanning and Zhang Yiyi, they draw really well, and our class PE officer, Wu Dongsong, joined the school basketball team in first grade. I believe these skills are just as, if not more, important than academic grades!"
What Xu Qingfan really wanted to say was, elementary school grades were useless, and the ninth and high school years were the most critical, but saying so as a first grader seemed inappropriate.
