The two knocks on the door startled Ye Tong, and like a frightened mouse, she scurried toward the wardrobe.
But Yang Fan stopped her, "Sister-in-law, stay calm."
Ye Tong was so nervous her face turned flush with a mix of red and white, and she frantically said, "How can I stay calm? We'll be found out, have you forgotten what I just said? This is something only the two of us can know, and we absolutely can't let it out, not even to Little Mother."
"I know, but hiding now will only make things worse," Yang Fan whispered. "We just sit here, openly, and you calmly say you were waiting for me to come back. Then, nothing will happen."
Ye Tong paused, her expression slowly stabilizing.
She nodded slightly, lowering her voice to a whisper, "You go answer the door first; I'll take a moment to settle down."
"Are you ready?" asked Yang Fan.
Sister-in-law's complexion still looked a bit off, showing the typical unease of a guilty conscience.
