The martial arts competitions among Ancient Martial Sects have never ceased from ancient times to the present day. They occur every few years for two main reasons: first, to spar and increase real combat experience, enhance one's own level, and gain more insight; second, to showcase the strength of one's own sect, to win honor for one's sect, and to let other Ancient Martial Sects know that their own Absolute Skills are powerful, and not to be trifled with or provoked.
Of these two reasons, the second carries more weight, particularly among sects that relish fighting or individuals who have mastered the Absolute Skills of their Ancient Martial Sect and believe themselves to be very strong, even aspiring to be the best in the world. Hence, each competition between Ancient Martial Sects inevitably results in injuries and deaths; it is unavoidable.
