The state Yoshimasa Jubei exhibited was the result of practicing a certain cultivation technique from the Onmyoji school.
This technique's theoretical foundation was "Yin Yang Conversion," which viewed the physical body as "the yang side" and the spirit as "the yin side."
Usually, one would constantly temper the spirit with the vital energy and Gang Qi within the physical body, transforming this "yang side" into "the yin side."
The ultimate goal was to have the "spirit," the "yin side," completely transform into "the yang side," fiery and vigorous.
Legend had it that anyone who achieved this level of practice had an incredibly profound realm, their powerful spirit nourishing the body and granting them an extraordinarily long life – it was a technique capable of "defying heaven."
