On the long white porcelain walkway, servants knelt and scrubbed the floor, attempting to polish the eyes of the sphinx carved into the path. So focused were they that they didn't notice the person passing by, and with a turn, one of them knocked over a water bucket, splashing a pair of luxurious long boots.
