Chereads / Ascension: The Path of the Reborn / Chapter 40 - Eternal Class

Chapter 40 - Eternal Class

Kael stood on the rocky plateau, a cold wind biting at his skin as he gazed out over the vast landscape of Ascension. The energy of his recent breakthrough still surged within him.

Level 10.

The path leading here had been grueling, filled with trials, but Kael no longer felt burdened by uncertainty. Instead, a quiet determination had settled in him—each step he took now felt purposeful, like he was uncovering the truth of his own power, bit by bit.

The familiar chime of the system echoed in his mind, notifications filling his vision.

System Notification:

System Notification:

Next Mastery Level upgrade: Level 20.

Kael's gaze softened as the notifications rolled in. Where once he might have felt overwhelmed, now he welcomed each development as a sign of growth. This wasn't just another achievement; this was progress toward a larger goal, even if he didn't fully understand it yet.

Then, something shifted. The system chimed again, but this time the tone was deeper, more profound. Kael could sense it—whatever was about to happen next was important.

System Notification:

You have acquired new skills.

Kael's heart quickened, but he wasn't alarmed. He was ready—whatever new power or challenge was coming, he knew he was capable of handling it.

System Notification:

Activating Multi-class Wielder. Selecting random additional class...

He raised an eyebrow. "Random selection?" This was new, but he didn't fight it. Instead, he watched the process unfold with growing interest.

System Notification:

Processing random selection from the Ascension class database…

Kael held his breath, anticipation thrumming through him. What would the system grant him? This wasn't something he could control, but he had learned that Ascension's challenges, even the unpredictable ones, only served to sharpen him.

System Notification:

Class Unlocked: Death Caller.

Description: Summoner who commands souls trapped between life and death, stronger than any mortal necromancer.

"Summoner?" Kael whispered, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. It wasn't what he expected, but rather than resist the idea, he embraced it. Every new skill, every new class was a tool—a weapon in his arsenal.

But before he could dive deeper into the details, the system shifted once again, this time with even greater intensity.

System Notification:

Activating Eternal Class...

Rebirth core class detected: VoidBlade.

Evolving VoidBlade into Eternal Class. Successful.

Eternal Class added: Eternal Shadowmaster.

System Notification:

Eternal Class added: Eternal Soulbinder.

Kael's eyes widened as the realization sank in.

Eternal Class.

Before he could fully comprehend the magnitude of the transformation, the wind around him shifted, growing colder. Shadows coiled at the edges of his vision, and a familiar figure began to materialize from the darkness.

The guide. A figure cloaked in swirling shadow, its form flickering like an ancient memory. Kael felt a sense of calm wash over him. He had encountered this being before, but now he welcomed its presence, knowing that what was about to unfold was important.

"You again," Kael said, his tone light, but respectful. "I figured there was something more to this."

The shadowy figure loomed closer, its presence weighty, as though carrying the weight of countless ages. "Indeed, Kael. This is no ordinary system change. You are walking a path that transcends the limits of most."

Kael nodded, taking it all in. He didn't need to fight it, nor did he need to question it. This was his journey, and every step brought him closer to mastering his true potential. "So, what exactly is the Eternal Class? Why me?"

The figure's voice echoed, layered with ancient wisdom. "The Eternal Class is a rare and powerful convergence of your Rebirth Core and your Ascension class. It fuses the essence of both, evolving them into something beyond what any single class can achieve. Yours has been shaped by the ancient being known as Aethlar, a guardian of immense power, who wielded both Void and Shadows in perfect harmony. Now, that essence has chosen you."

Kael let out a slow breath, absorbing the enormity of it. "Aethlar..." The name resonated with him, though he had never heard it before in his life within Ascension. He wasn't sure who or what Aethlar truly was, but knowing that he shared in that power didn't intimidate him. It empowered him.

"So, this Eternal Class—it's more than just an upgrade, isn't it?" Kael asked, his tone filled with curiosity and resolve.

"Correct," the figure confirmed. "The Eternal Class evolves as you do, growing with your Rebirth Core and your Ascension class. Each step forward brings you closer to unlocking its full potential. The Eternal Class reflects the merging of these two sources of power, granting you abilities far beyond what most players can dream of."

Kael's eyes gleamed with understanding. He had always felt that his path in Ascension was different, that the Rebirth Core was something far more than just a class system. Now, he knew he was right. "And when I unlock it fully?"

The figure shifted slightly, shadows swirling around it. "When you unlock the Rebirth Core fully, it will unleashed imaginable eternal power, surpassing even the true power of Aethlar. You will wield the strength beyond the powers of an Eternal—a transcendent being that surpasses even the strongest Ascendants."

Kael nodded slowly, no longer feeling the weight of confusion or doubt. Instead, he felt a rush of purpose. "Then I'll do it. I'll unlock its full potential."

"You will," the guide said, its voice carrying a sense of certainty. "But remember, this is only one step in your journey. Other skills will reveal themselves as you progress. For example, Status Multiplier will become one of your greatest assets, though it remains locked for now. Once you meet the conditions—destroying five Rifts, killing five Commander-level enemies, and leveling up your Rebirth Core—it will exponentially increase your stats."

Kael clenched his fist, feeling more energized than ever. "That's exactly what I need. And the other skills?"

"Darkspawn Locator will serve you when the time is right. You will face enemies who dwell in the darkest corners of Ascension, and this skill will guide you to them. For now, though, focus on mastering the classes you've unlocked."

Kael stood tall, his mind clear and focused. "I understand. Whatever comes next, I'll be ready for it."

The figure's form shimmered, fading slightly, as though it were retreating back into the shadows. "Good, Kael. Your journey is far from over. Continue to grow, and when the time comes, you will face even greater challenges. But know this—your strength is already far beyond what you realize."

As the guide vanished, Kael opened his status menu, scanning over his additional Eternal classes: Eternal Shadowmaster and Eternal Soulbinder. These weren't just titles—they were a reflection of his growth, his power, and the path he was destined to walk.

Kael smiled, closing the interface. His purpose had never been clearer. He wasn't just surviving in Ascension anymore—he was thriving. Each step forward brought him closer to unlocking the full extent of his power.

He stood alone on the plateau, the cold wind whipping around him, but his heart burned with determination. He was Kael Relan, and he would ascend to heights no one else had ever imagined.

This was only the beginning.
