Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: Let's both go down together!

The steel wires came pouring down, but Togata Mirio stood his ground without dodging. Midoriya's attacks passed right through him, ineffective.

"'Permeation' is really troublesome..."

Midoriya Izuku thought calmly. Even though he had the advantage of the terrain and Mirio-senpai lacked long-range attacks, his steel wire assault was still useless as Mirio dodged every strike with "Penetration." The two were at a stalemate.

"Midoriya, your strategic thinking is very good. With a bit more battle experience, you'd make an excellent hero."

"Thanks, but Mirio-senpai, take this! My steel wire trap with a 30-meter radius!!"

Like a spider in the center of a web of steel wires, Midoriya Izuku controlled multiple wires to entangle various pieces of rubble and threw them at Togata Mirio—broken road signs, training railings, old chairs... a pile of junk covered Mirio.

Togata Mirio had explained his "Permeation" Quirk to Midoriya: all physical attacks were useless against him. But the effect had its limits... if his head was penetrated, he wouldn't be able to see or breathe because Midoriya's attacks only had one goal.

The steel wire continued to assault Mirio, hoping to catch a moment of weakness and defeat him... but Midoriya knew it was impossible.

As the debris piled up, Togata Mirio suddenly popped up from the other side of the rubble, with his lower body still buried underground due to "Permeation."

His upper body aimed at the suspended Midoriya Izuku, and Mirio deactivated his "Penetration" Quirk. He immediately shot out like a cannonball.

"Dodge!"

Togata Mirio shot forward so fast, but Midoriya Izuku's reaction was even quicker. The steel wire launched from his back pulled him in the opposite direction, allowing Midoriya to move to a different position midair.

This was Midoriya's strategy. With "Permeation," Mirio couldn't change direction in midair, so Midoriya easily dodged him.

"Sorry, Mirio-senpai... right now, the terrain is in my favor."

Midoriya dodged the flying Mirio and immediately attacked with his steel wires, not caring if it would work—he just kept fighting.

As expected, the steel wires passed right through Mirio's body, and his flight was slowed. He flipped and started to fall back down.

"Same here, I have the advantage, don't I?"

Mirio stopped falling abruptly, and Midoriya suddenly felt the weight shift. Looking up, he saw Mirio's feet hooked on the steel wire—had his steel wire trap provided Mirio a foothold?

"Using my steel wires..."

Togata Mirio's move made Midoriya wary. He remembered how he'd been ambushed the last time by "Hero Killer" Stain, who had taken advantage of his own steel wires.

The "Big Three" of U.A., Mirio, wouldn't be helpless just because of a lack of long-range attacks. He likely had more tricks up his sleeve, and Midoriya was on full alert.

"Guess I'll have to show my true strength."

Togata Mirio stretched, crossing his fingers, and took in the whole battlefield. In a split second, he calculated his next move, and the secret move he'd perfected as the hero "Million" came to light:

"Ultimate Move: Phantom Piercing!"

Togata Mirio's ultimate technique uses the properties of "Permeation" to bounce multiple times, achieving high-speed movement. However, it requires extremely quick reflexes and the ability to observe the situation, or else it could result in self-injury.

At this point, "Lemillion" begins to move!

"Permeation" is activated and canceled instantly. His body merges with the steel wires before being ejected immediately. The force from the launch sends him flying toward Midoriya.

Midoriya narrowly dodges, and Mirio continues his charge toward the ruined building, repeating the same action. His body rebounds back like a cannonball.

Using his rocket backpack, Midoriya quickly evades. Mirio's body slides beneath him, stepping on the steel wires and repeating the motion, now chasing Midoriya upward into the air.

In this critical moment, Midoriya Izuku immediately cuts the steel wire net behind his armor and fully activates his arm thrusters. His body speeds upward, moving faster to reach a higher position.

Losing his footing, Togata Mirio has no choice but to fall straight down, sinking into the ground like falling into water, only to emerge from the other side.

Mirio looks up at Midoriya, who is flying in the air. His mechanical armor has thrust capabilities, so even without the steel wires, it can hover.

"It's a shame. I was so close to catching you."

"Not really... I've run out of options."

Midoriya Izuku looks at the energy remaining in his armor. It probably won't last for more than five minutes. Originally, he had planned to use the steel wire to create a spiderweb and delay for thirty minutes, but now...

"I'm outta here..."

Since Mirio-senpai can't fly, the duration of his mechanical armor is enough for him to fly out of the combat zone. Continuing to fight would be stupid. Midoriya doesn't want to fail.

"Goodbye!"

Midoriya, apologizing with his fist raised in the air, flies out of the battle zone without looking back. Togata Mirio, standing on the ground, is dumbfounded. He didn't expect this.

"Aizawa-sensei! Is this allowed?"

"Yes, equipment is part of your strength."

Confused, Togata Mirio thought he'd have a proper match with Midoriya Izuku, but the ending seems a bit anticlimactic.

"I have no choice..."

Aiming at Midoriya Izuku's position, Togata Mirio's legs sink, and a huge force erupts. He launches himself into the air.

Midoriya, who is about to fly out of the combat zone, hears the sound of something breaking the air behind him. He turns around...

"Mirio-senpai!!!"

Togata Mirio, flying toward him, startles Midoriya. What is this movement? It's just like All Might's!

In a desperate moment, Midoriya activates all his power and sprints outward. If he gets caught now, it's over.

Midoriya Izuku is fast, but Togata Mirio, with his burst of strength, is faster. He reaches Midoriya's back first, grabbing him with one hand as they both rapidly descend.

"Ahhhhhh!!"

Caught off guard, Midoriya is easily grabbed and brought down... landing safely.

Once on the ground, Togata Mirio lets go of Midoriya Izuku and, with a hopeful look, says:

"The battle isn't over yet, you can't run away now."

"..."

Midoriya Izuku remains silent. What just happened? How did Mirio-senpai fly up? His "Permeation" bounce isn't that strong, right?

But seeing Togata Mirio full of energy, Midoriya resigns himself. There's no way out... he'll have to go all out.

"Mirio-senpai, are you sure you want to continue?"

"Yes, a hero has to fight with everything they've got."

"Alright..."

Upon hearing Togata Mirio's response, Midoriya was left with no other choice. He reached for the tool belt at his waist and said seriously:

"Since that's the case, we can only go down together!!"
