Mr Geralt wandered from the eastern seas. The wanderers are different types of people, unlike sorcerers and knights, the wanderers upon reaching a level of strength, travel across different places and planes, no one knows what they seek but the wanderers themselves.
"What is it this time?" Mr Geralt asked, in all his years of being a wanderer, this was the worst of all disciples he has ever taken. It is not that Kai is not talented, it is that he seems fun in everything, he was not like that a week back, but he changed abruptly. "Must be puberty," Mr Geralt thought inwardly.
Kai put his hand into his pocket, then brought out a packet, he tore open the wraps bringing out a little wooden case, then flashing it in front of his master with a grin and a sigh from his master, he opened it and behold.
"A pill?" Mr Geralt asked confused, this part of the world specialized in portions, how did he make a pill?
"It is not just a pill," Kai flashed a smile as he saw the surprised look of his master.
"Then what is it?" Geralt asked, although he was surprised, he has seen many wonders around the world, and this was not the first time someone marveled at him. "Maybe I really have to take him in as a disciple," He thought.
"This pill could help in defeating Shadow Beast easily," Kai said with a smile.
Mr Geralt stroked his white beard, as if in thought, "How does it help in defeating those beasts?" Even him find those beasts hard to comprehend. In all his life as a wanderer, he has never seen anything like those beasts, it was first. Not only where they fast, they can multiply lower ranked beast by just the shadows on the field, the shadows where their protective armor, making them impenetrable to weapons, so to defeat them, you need powers and energies, and one thing is that the energies in a person's body is not endless.
"I wish there was something to test it out on," Kai pondered.
"No need, cut to the chase, how does it help?" Geralt asked.
Kai smiled proudly, as if he wanted to begin a serious explanation, he strengthened his back, and looked completely serious.
"This invention of mine is an explosive type, you just need to throw it in the field and it explodes. Not only does it not work against humans, it also slows down the speed of the beast, while dispersing their shadows and revealing their true form, this will help in an easier kill," Kai explained at once, you could tell he prepared the long speech before hand.
Mr Geralt listened intently, his eyes narrowing as he processed the information. The concept was intriguing, to say the least. He had encountered many strange and wondrous things in his travels, but this pill, if it worked as Kai claimed, could be a game-changer in their ongoing struggle against the Shadow Beasts.
"Interesting," Mr Geralt mused, stroking his beard thoughtfully. "But how did you come up with such an idea? And more importantly, how did you manage to create it?"
Kai's eyes lit up with excitement, eager to share the details of his creation. "Well, master, it all started when I was studying the nature of the Shadow Beasts. I noticed that their shadows seemed to react differently to certain types of energy. It got me thinking about how we could use that to our advantage."
Mr Geralt nodded, encouraging his disciple to continue. Despite his initial reservations about Kai's recent behavior, he could not deny the young man's intellect and creativity.
"I spent days experimenting with different combinations of herbs and minerals," Kai continued, his voice filled with passion. "I knew we needed something that could disrupt the shadow's structure without harming human flesh. It was a delicate balance to strike."
As Kai delved into the intricacies of his creation, Mr Geralt found himself impressed by the depth of thought that had gone into it. Perhaps he had underestimated his disciple after all. The boy's recent playfulness might have been a cover for the intense focus he had been dedicating to this project.
"The key," Kai explained, "was finding a way to create an explosion that emits a specific frequency of energy. This energy interferes with the shadow's ability to maintain its form, forcing it to disperse and revealing the true form of the beast beneath."
Mr Geralt's brow furrowed as he considered the implications. "And you are certain this will not harm humans? We cannot risk collateral damage in our battles."
Kai nodded emphatically. "Absolutely, master. I tested it extensively to ensure it only affects the unique energy signature of the Shadow Beasts. Humans and other creatures should be completely unaffected by the explosion."
The old wanderer had to admit, he was impressed. If Kai's invention worked as described, it could revolutionize their approach to combating the Shadow Beasts. These creatures had long been a plague upon the land, their ability to manipulate shadows making them nearly invincible in combat.
"Tell me, Kai," Mr Geralt said, his voice taking on a more serious tone, "what inspired you to pursue this line of research? It is not often that a disciple takes such initiative."
Kai's expression softened, a hint of vulnerability showing through his usual bravado. "To be honest, master, I was tired of feeling helpless against these beasts. I have seen the toll they take on our people, the fear they instill in even the bravest warriors. I wanted to make a difference, to give us a fighting chance."
Mr Geralt felt a surge of pride in his chest. Perhaps he had misjudged Kai's recent behavior. What he had interpreted as frivolity might have been the release of tension after long hours of intense work and study.
"Your dedication is commendable," Mr Geralt said, placing a hand on Kai's shoulder. "But we must be cautious. Innovations like these can have unforeseen consequences. We must test it thoroughly before deploying it in actual combat."
Kai nodded eagerly, clearly relieved to have his master's approval. "Of course, master. I would not dream of using it without proper testing. But how can we test it without an actual Shadow Beast?"
Mr Geralt stroked his beard thoughtfully. This was indeed a conundrum. Shadow Beasts were not creatures one could simply summon for testing purposes. Their appearances were unpredictable and always accompanied by destruction and chaos.
"Perhaps," Mr Geralt mused, "we could seek out areas where Shadow Beast activity has been reported. We could set up controlled experiments, using your pill in a safe, contained environment."
Kai's eyes lit up with excitement. "That is a brilliant idea, master. We could create a perimeter, ensure no civilians are at risk, and then attempt to lure a Shadow Beast into our trap."
As they discussed the logistics of testing Kai's invention, Mr Geralt found himself reevaluating his opinion of his young disciple. The boy had shown remarkable initiative and ingenuity. Perhaps it was time to take his training more seriously, to truly invest in developing Kai's potential.
"Kai," Mr Geralt said, interrupting their planning session, "I owe you an apology. I have not been giving you the attention and guidance you deserve as my disciple. Your work on this pill shows a level of dedication and creativity that I have underestimated."
Kai looked surprised, then touched by his master's words. "Thank you, master. Your guidance has been invaluable to me, even when you did not realize it. I only hope to live up to your expectations."
Mr Geralt smiled, a rare expression on his usually stern face. "You have already exceeded them, my boy. Now, let us focus on refining your invention and preparing for proper testing. If this works as you have described, it could change the course of our struggle against the Shadow Beasts."
As they delved into the details of their plan, Mr Geralt felt a renewed sense of purpose. The life of a wanderer was often solitary and filled with hardship, but moments like these, when hope bloomed in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, made it all worthwhile. With Kai's ingenuity and his own vast experience, perhaps they stood a chance of turning the tide against the shadow that had long plagued their world.
The master and disciple worked late into the night, refining their plans and discussing the potential implications of Kai's invention. As the first light of dawn began to creep over the horizon, they finally retired as Kai returned to his home, both filled with a sense of anticipation for the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. The world of the wanderers was ever-changing, full of mysteries and dangers, but with innovation and determination, they would face whatever came their way, together.
