With the defeat of the shadow beast, the forest slowly returned to its serene state, the songs of birds filtering back into the air as if nature itself was celebrating their victory. Leo, still catching his breath, looked up at Lysandra, who was watching him with a mixture of admiration and concern.
"Are you alright?" she asked, kneeling beside him. "That was a significant display of energy."
"I'm fine," Leo replied, shaking his head to clear the lingering adrenaline. "Just a bit… overwhelmed."
"Understandable," she said, her voice gentle. "Facing a creature like that is no small feat. But remember, the darkness is cunning. It will not be the last we encounter."
Leo nodded, his expression turning serious. "What do we do now?"
"We regroup and prepare for the trials ahead. The shadow beasts are manifestations of the dark forces gathering strength. It is imperative that we stay vigilant," she replied, her tone resolute.
"What kind of dark forces?" Leo asked, concern creeping into his voice. "Are there more of those beasts?"
"There are many creatures that serve the darkness—some are merely shadows, while others are much more formidable," Lysandra explained. "But our greatest enemy is a being known as the Shadow Lord. He seeks to consume the light from this world and plunge it into eternal darkness."
"The Shadow Lord?" Leo repeated, the name sending a chill down his spine. "How do we stop him?"
"To defeat the Shadow Lord, we must gather allies and strengthen our own powers," she said, rising to her feet. "There are other guardians like me, and we must unite our strengths against him."
"Other guardians?" Leo felt a surge of hope. "Where do we find them?"
"They reside in the various kingdoms across this realm. Each kingdom is unique, with its own challenges and inhabitants. We will need to travel to the Kingdom of Eldoria first. The guardians there can aid us," Lysandra explained.
