Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 - Hannah's Welcome party II

"Aria, I'm so glad you came." Hannah said as she approached me.

"Hehe, of course. I was definitely going to come." I said awkwardly, glancing at Cairo. He was looking at me, but I had no idea what he was thinking at that moment. I quickly looked away.

"Just enjoy yourself, Aria. I have to go now... my other friends are at another table. I need to go there." Hannah said.

"Okay, sure, no problem..." I replied.

Then she left, leaving me and Cairo alone. I didn't look at him. He sat on the chair in front of me. Neither of us spoke, and I didn't pay him any attention. I was staring off into the distance at the dance floor. Please, just leave, Cairo. That's all I could think because I didn't know how to talk to him right now >__<

"You're beautiful today." I heard him say, and I looked at him. I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly; the sound system was loud, and it seemed impossible that he would say that to me.

"What? What did you say? I can't hear you!" I shouted.

"Nothing! I said you're ugly and deaf!" he shouted back.

"You're such a jerk! Can't you at least behave for once? Just for today, please don't ruin my day!" I yelled.

He just stared at me with a scowl. I glanced around, looking for Asher. I looked back at Cairo. He was still staring at me, making me feel so uneasy. He's probably cursing me in his mind a thousand times over, argh >__< How do I get away from him? I can't stand being with him any longer.

"Umm, just a moment. I feel like having some wine. Stay here, okay?" I said, standing up and walking away, looking for the waiter carrying glasses of wine.

"Aria, wait for me!" I heard Cairo shout, and it seemed like he was following me, so I walked even faster.

"Cairo, can we take a picture with you, please?" I heard some girls say to Cairo.

I turned around, and to my surprise, Cairo agreed. He posed for pictures with the girls. I took the chance to escape until I finally spotted the waiter with the wine. I quickly approached and asked for a glass of wine. I drank it quickly—it was so bitter; what's so good about this taste? I thought after downing the glass quickly. And it didn't even seem to make me tipsy.

So, I took another one, drank it, and took another. I couldn't even count how many glasses I'd had. Until I started feeling dizzy; my vision was spinning. I rubbed my eyes, but it didn't help, so I decided to stop drinking. I felt like I was wobbling as I walked. I was about to fall until I grabbed onto some guy's arm. He quickly pushed my hand away.

"Hey, let go of me." he said.

"Sorry, I'm just really dizzy." I said before walking away. I didn't know where I was going—I was so dizzy. I kept bumping into people, saying sorry repeatedly.

I tripped several times, so out of frustration, I took off my sandals and left them on the floor, then continued walking barefoot, staggering. I just kept walking until suddenly, I fell and my entire body got wet—I had fallen into the swimming pool. And I didn't know how to swim. I splashed my arms around, but I kept sinking...

"H--help!!! Somebody help me—" I couldn't finish shouting for help because I was already sinking into the pool.

But I forced my head above water to call for help again, swallowing more and more water.

"OMG, someone's drowning in the pool! Help her!"

"There's a girl drowning in the pool!"

"It's Aria! She's drowning! Help her!" I heard people screaming.

Cairo's P.OV

I'm getting annoyed with the girls taking pictures with me, and because of them, I lost sight of Aria. I want to shout at them and push them away, but…

("You're really a jerk! Can you, just this once, not be an asshole? Please, Cairo, even just today. Don't ruin my day!" I remembered what Aria said to me.)

If I cause a scene again here, she'll just get mad at me again. So I'm trying my best to be patient with the girls who want pictures. But now I've lost Aria from my sight.

"Ahmm, sorry I have to go." I told the girls.

"Oh my god, did you hear that? Cairo just said sorry."

"Shocks, he really apologized? What happened to him?" I heard them say, but I ignored them, just walking and searching for Aria. Where did that girl go? There are so many people today, so it's hard to find her, especially since Aria isn't tall, she's small, and it's really hard to spot her in a crowd.

But I didn't give up, I was determined to find her. As I walked, I kicked something on the ground. When I looked at it, I was shocked to see the sandals—these were the ones Aria was wearing earlier. I'm sure of it because the moment I saw her earlier, I couldn't take my eyes off her. She's stunning and beautiful.

I memorized what she was wearing. Even her sandals. I can still remember every single f*cking detail of her dress design. She's really beautiful, and I couldn't take my eyes off her earlier. So I'm sure these sandals are hers.

I bent down and picked them up. I felt nervous—why are her sandals here? Where could she be? What happened to her? I ran around the area, desperately looking for her while still holding her sandals.

"Aria!!!" I shouted, but the sound system was too loud. Until…

"OMG, someone is drowning in the pool!!! Someone help her!!!" I heard a woman scream.

I don't know why, but I felt an intense anxiety, even though I didn't know who was drowning. I quickly ran towards the swimming pool, pushing people out of the way.

"Move! Get out of the way!" I shouted until I reached the pool.

I was shocked when I saw Aria drowning in the pool. I immediately dropped the sandals I was holding and jumped into the pool without hesitation to save her.

"Oh my god, it's Cairo, he's trying to save Aria," I heard some people shout. I quickly reached Aria.

She was panicking, raising her hands, and even pushing me away, making it hard for me to rescue her. She doesn't know how to swim.

"Aria, calm down! I'm here; I won't leave you." I told her as I hugged her.

"Just hold on to me, you're safe now." I said gently.

I could smell the alcohol on her; damn, she's drunk.

"C-Cairo...?" she weakly called my name before losing consciousness.
