Cairo's P.O.V
One by one, she smashed the flying cockroaches. Until only one was left, which she hit with full force. Then, she angrily turned towards me and approached with a fierce attitude while I stood by the lockers with Denzel.
"Is that all you can do? Tsk... Maybe if I sent a monkey to your locker, you'd faint from fear!" she taunted.
"Wow, she's really something, dude. Just give up already." Denzel said from beside me.
"I told you she's different." Asher said, smirking.
She's really testing my patience. I clenched my fists in frustration and couldn't understand why I was just standing there, speechless. She immediately turned and headed to her locker, quickly leaving.
Sade, who was beside me, clapped.
"She's something else. I don't know, but every day you two fight, it's entertaining." Sade said, laughing after clapping.
"Aria is so cool." Denzel added.
I wasn't impressed by their comments. What's cool about that? They don't feel how annoying she is. My blood boils everytime I see her ugly face, she's so irritating.
~~~BLAAAGGGGG~~~
In my frustration, I hit the locker beside me with full force, causing it to dent slightly. The other students screamed in shock.
"Dude, calm down." Denzel said.
"You know what, dude, I think you should stop this." Asher added.
"If anyone should give up here, it shouldn't be me. I'm Cairo Hayes." I said arrogantly.
I had planned to scare Aria with cockroaches, but I misjudged it. It wasn't enough. This isn't over, I'm just getting started. She should brace herself.
"Dude, we have practice at the gym now. Coach said not to be late. Calm down for now." Sade said.
Both Sade and I are on the varsity basketball team. We just passed the tryouts last month as freshmen. Denzel isn't into sports; he only joined the Art Club because he said there are a lot of pretty girls there.
Asher joined the Music Club and passed his audition last month. He's now a guitarist in a band at the university.
Sade and I went to the gym.
"You two are late. Hurry up and warm up, then we'll practice a game." Coach said.
After warming up, we started the game. But my hand was hurting; I noticed it was bleeding from when I hit the locker earlier. It was affecting my play.
"Cairo, what's wrong? You're dropping the ball." Coach said, irritated.
"My hand hurts. I have a cut." I said.
"Tsk, you're bleeding now? Remember, we have a match next week here at the university. Do you want to lose to another university?" Coach said. Frustrated, I threw the ball at him with force, and he caught it, surprised.
"Dude, that's Coach. Please calm down." Sade said quietly, though I knew he was worried.
"Ah s---, fine. Take a break, Cairo." Coach said, flustered.
"I'm leaving." I said, and walked out of the gym. I was extremely frustrated. My bad mood seemed endless, and I blamed it all on that girl.
I went to the bench area, wanting to rest. But as soon as I sat down, students started gathering around me, asking for photos. Some were even taking pictures, which only added to my irritation.
Just as I was about to shout at them...
"Cairo, finally I found you!" I heard a girl's voice, causing the girls taking pictures to stop and look towards the source of the voice.
"Can you all leave?" I said to the students, and they complied.
"And who are you? Do I even know you?" I asked the girl who called out to me and now stood beside me.
"Gosh, don't you recognize me? It's Hannah." she said. I thought for a moment.
"Ah... I remember now. Why are you here?" I asked.
"Seriously, you don't seem excited to see me... tsk, whatever. From now on, I'll be studying here, so that means you'll be seeing me all the time." she said.
"Okay." I replied.
Hannah is the daughter of my parents' business partner, which means she comes from a wealthy family too. Her parents are billionaires with various businesses in the country.
I met Hannah when I was seven at a business party hosted by our parents and other entrepreneurs. Since then, she's never left me alone, and we became friends. She also befriended Sade, Denzel, and Asher.
"You don't even look surprised to see me. It's disappointing." she said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Hannah, what do you want me to do? Scream or jump because I see you?" I teased.
"Why not?" she said sarcastically.
"When did you arrive?" I asked. She came from Australia.
"Hmm, last week, but I didn't tell you. I wanted to surprise you, but you're so annoying. You don't even seem surprised I'm here." she said.
"Well, I'm glad to see you." I replied.
"Really?" she asked, happy.
"Yes, really." I said.
All afternoon, Hannah followed me everywhere I went. It was really annoying. I wanted to escape from her.
"Who's the girl with Cairo?" I heard students whispering as Hannah and I walked.
We were heading to the cafeteria because she said she was hungry. When we entered, we found a commotion at one of the tables with a crowd of students gathered around.
"Hmm? What happened? Let's go check it out." Hannah said, pulling me towards the scene.
It was Aria. Damian was grabbing her by the collar, and her lip was bleeding. I didn't know what happened, but it was clear that trouble seemed to find this girl easily. Damian was the leader of the gangsters at the university. I've had run-ins with his group before.
"Apologize to my girlfriend!" Damian shouted at Aria.
Girlfriend? The girlfriend I know of Damian is Rikka, who is on the cheerleading squad. She was standing next to Damian, and I noticed that her uniform had a stain on it.
"But I didn't mean for this to happen." Aria said weakly, sounding defeated.
"I'm so mad, babe. Look at what she did to my uniform, arrgggghhh." Rikka said beside Damian.
"Oh no! Poor Aria. Damian punched her."
"Yeah, her lip is bleeding from the force of the punch."
"Can someone please stop this? It's getting out of hand."
I heard students surrounding Aria and Damian say.
"Don't want to apologize? Fine, if that's what you want!" Damian shouted.
I took a step closer, but I felt Hannah pulling me back.
"Cairo, stay here. Don't get too close; you might get caught up in this." Hannah said, gripping my hand tightly.
Just as Damian was about to punch Aria again, out of nowhere, Asher arrived and pulled Aria away, positioning himself in front of her. Damian's fist hit the side of Asher's face, causing it to bleed.
