Valery entered the classroom, some turned to look at her, others just glanced at her out of the corner of their eyes. But in those 2 seconds since she opened the door, everyone focused their eyes on her.
Whether it was an indirect or direct look, it didn't matter, but she still felt their stares.
Valery, felt each glance on her skin like needles piercing her soul.
Valery saw their friendly faces, who were chatting with their friends. But she also saw the eyes of her companions, her friends.
Each and every one of them did not have a friendly look.
Valery clenched her fists tightly but her actions went unnoticed.
The ones who looked the most were those who had a high rank like the viscounts and the counts. The marquises looked only at the earls, the dukes were the most concerned, they looked at no one and left everyone with their looks and messages given between the lines.
Valery became more and more frustrated as he noticed more and more things.
Valery saw the Barons and felt distressed, many had an uncomfortable look on their faces but they still wore that kind smile, that pretend calm voice. Some had a calmer smile, you could tell by the way they were so close to each other.
The happiest were those commoners who managed to get recognition, but others were ignorant of what was going on around them, just like Valery yesterday
.
Ignorant
Blind
Valery was not one of those nobles who discriminated between nobles and commoners.
But she is the leader of a territory, if she was not able to notice something like this, it would only endanger her people. That flaw would make her an incompetent leader, and that was something Valery could never afford. She would not ruin what several generations of the Redleaves Family had created, formed and built.
Not now when an era comes as prosperous as living on the surface without hiding.
If blood is to be wasted in this era, then Valery will waste blood. But she can't do anything, she can't if she does it alone.
Valery turned her head to Stelle who was looking at her brazenly, it was as if she was throwing her own innocence and blindness in her face.
Her pride as a noble vampire was wounded.
Valery approached Stelle who at the sight of her actions her smile shone and her eyes shone too, her joy was deep, Stelle did not care about Valery's pride. She just wanted Valery and her friends to be with her.
"Good night Stelle" Her voice was more subdued, not as cheerful or excited as it normally was.
"Valery it's nice to see you, did you have a little sleep during the day?"
"Yes, a peaceful and acceptable sleep."
"Stelle smiled and hugged Valery's arm, making him sit down next to her.
Katerin arrived shortly after, without much choice she sat next to Valery. Valery who looked at her as she entered saw the disturbance in Katerin's eyes when she saw her sitting next to Stelle.
There was only a silence of acceptance from Katerin, there were no options anymore, in this cage of depraders they could only join a band or be eaten in the process.
The others who were paying attention to Katerin and Valery could only stop looking at them, they made a decision, there was no turning back on that. Some of them did give her confused and regretful looks, if they had moved earlier and talked to Valery or Katerin maybe she would have managed to bring them to her side.
None of them looked at Marta, who has the care of Harry Darktree, the viscount. Who is also in the employ of Antoni, a Duke.
No one wanted to mess with a Duke, there were only two in the class and Antoni was the better of the two.
x-x-x
As before, her footsteps sounded from a distance and the class reacted by sitting in their seats and falling into a silent huddle.
Teacher Coin entered and stood silently at the front of the room, her eyes were frowning with an annoyance evident to all. Her eyes took the time to look at each of the students.
When his eyes stopped on Valery.
Valery felt nervous, some might not know what happened last night, others might have an idea.
But she knows what happened last night, she was there after all, she witnessed another student being hurt and she helped as best she could.
Valery's eyes could not take it anymore and she could only move them, whether Professor Coin suspected her or not was something she would never know.
After observing a few more students the teacher finally spoke.
"I think it is clear to everyone, that the institution is not a place for your political fights or anything else, even though some of the teachers are nobles, we keep this place neutral. I hope it is clear to all of you".
No one answered and that made Professor Coin's gaze become much heavier for everyone.
But her face did not change but the way she looked at us was very different.
"Then I will start the class... learn as much as you can and listen carefully."
