"My mother said yes to meeting her at home. That was fast. I thought she would be a little suspicious of the sudden change and need time to consider it. She must see it as another opportunity to get money," Veronica said, reading the texts one more time since she couldn't believe how easy it was.
Veronica looked at the mirror to see the reflection of Liam sitting on their bed. Since he returned from speaking to his parents he had been quiet.
Veronica turned around to face him. "Are you alright? You've been quiet since you came home. We can talk about what's going on with you. Sorry if I am bothering you about my mother."
"You're not bothering me. It's good that your plans are going well. I put in a good word for Henry to be invited to an event soon so if your mother can get Beth out of the home, you should go that day. What's wrong?" Liam asked, noticing her grim expression.
