Vance was concerned but knowing the men he hired, he believed it was them who fired the shot because it was necessary. Looking around, the location they were in didn't seem like it would have anyone around at this hour to point out his car being there.
He could depend on these men to do all kinds of jobs for him and clean up afterwards so he wouldn't be tied to any of this.
"Drive off now," Vance instructed the driver. There wasn't a point in sticking around when gunshots were going off. "I'm not meeting with anyone. Let tonight be a lesson for you to not go behind anyone's back."
Instead of doing what Vance wanted, the driver of the car got out and started to leave. It was promised that as long as he kept out of the way then he would live. Normally he wouldn't go against Vance but his hands were really tied with the threat he received.
