In a few hours, he could be free of his father and be the one running this family since Adeline was nowhere to be seen or he could be dragged down with this stranger he was putting his fate in.
Vance was in a foul mood but this wasn't something new to Benjamin. He was only surprised that his father allowed him to ride with him. It had to be that Vance didn't trust he would be on his best behaviour without Adeline around to clean up for him.
