Evelyn laughed instead of being afraid of what he might do to her. She believed him when he said he would kill her. "Now you want to kill me? What happened to protecting me?"
"That was when you were my wife. After you mistreated our daughter, you couldn't possibly think I would keep you safe. You had one job and you couldn't do that right. Why shouldn't I kill you?" Dean asked.
Dean didn't have any use for Evelyn.
"After all these years, you're still going around being like this. You would have had me and Veronica-"
"Don't try to sell me any crap. We fell out of love with each other but we had a daughter to raise. Your protection from me came with you taking care of her. She's grown now so I don't need to concern myself with you," said Dean.
Dean didn't have any love for Evelyn left to care about whether she lived or not. He knew Evelyn must have lived well on the money he sent.
