My name is Sung Jin-Hyuk . I am an average student in Seoul Central High School . I have been living in this world alone . I don't have any family or relatives . My parents died in a car accident when I was in middle school and now I live alone , Well I do have an elder sister but she is a college student studying in New York . I wonder how she is doing ? We rarely talk and the only times we talk are on weekends or probably during festivals but that's it.
Â
I am pretty average in terms of academics . I am always busy with either studying or doing my usual part time job at a restaurant as a cashier , for my living expenses .Â
Â
I was walking back to my apartment from school . I was passing through the center of the city when I saw the news on the TV screen on one of the buildings there . It was a news on the "S Rank Hunter Cha Seol-Ah" . She is apparently a young hunter of about my age and was the team 1 captain of the "DAWN GUILD" which is among Korea's top 3 guilds . She is an exceptional hunter who excels in fighting with a sword . Her nickname is "The Ice Princess" as she has a skill of attribute ice which is "Ice Formation" . It is an SS Rank skill and she has many other skills of the same rank or higher . She is among the strongest hunters in the world .
Â
"Hah! It appears that some people are really exceptional . She is among the strongest hunters in the world at my age . And here am I , an average school boy thinking about how to spend my life with the little amount of money I earn . Well , Let's just go home "Â
Â
Jin-Hyuk started walking towards his home in a rather sad mood but he did not know that his mood would soon be changed.Â
It was night time when Jin-Hyuk was doing his assignment for the school the day after tomorrow . He was really busy. After completing is assignment he was tired and wanted some sleep when he heard the crackling of light outside the window . He thought it was gonna rain but it didn't rather he saw a outburst of blue light coming towards him and it finally collided.
When Jin-Hyuk woke up he saw a floating window in front of him.
-[Congratulations , You have met the conditions to become a "Player"]
-[Will you accept ?]
-[Y/N]
But he was so tired to notice those changes. The next day he did his as usual works and went to school. On his was to school , he saw a child crossing the road and about to get hit by a car. Suddenly a pulse of energy shot out from his fingertips, and the air around him shimmered. The car screeched to a halt, frozen just inches away from the child. Jin-Hyuk blinked confused by what just happened. He felt a strange warmth coursing through his veins, his hand glowing faintly with a blue light.Â
The child, unaware to the danger he had closely escaped, continued crossing the road, safely reaching the other side. Jin-Hyuk still standing in the middle of of the sidewalk, looked around to see if anyone had witnessed the strange moment. But it was as if the world hadn't noticed anything unusual.
Â
"What…just happened ?" Jin-Hyuk whispered to himself
Â
As he continued his walk to school, thoughts raced through his mind . How had he stopped the car? What was this power he had suddenly discovered? Over the next few days, Jin-Hyuk began to notice other changes. He could control objects with just a thought, move faster than normal, and sense danger before it occurred. His strength had grown far beyond anything he had ever known, making him faster and more powerful than usual, as though an unstoppable force had awakened within him.
Â
-AFTER A WEEK-
Â
The sun's first ray seep through the window as he woke up the next morning .Today was the day. After weeks of discovering his powers, he decided to go to the Hunter's Association for the test- the test that would determine if he was truly capable of becoming a hunter. He needed to know if he was ready to protect the world from the looming danger and dark force that threatened it.
As he made his way to the association's building, his thoughts raced. What if his abilities weren't what he thought? Still, there was no turning back now. He had to take the test, no matter the outcome.
Upon entering the association, he was greeted by rows of hunters, each more powerful than the last. The air echoed with energy as people prepared for missions, sharpening weapons and discussing strategies. Jin-Hyuk's heart pounded as he approached the registration desk.Â
Â
"Good Morning Sir . How can I help u ?" the receptionist asked .Â
Â
"I want to take the evaluation test ." he said, trying to keep his voice steady.
Â
The receptionist nodded and led him to a large room filled with advanced technology. At the centre of the room stood a strange machine- a device designed to measure a person's strength, skill, and potential to determine their hunter rank. It was said to be highly accurate, with ranks ranging from E to S, with S being the rarest and most powerful.Â
Â
"Now please keep your hand on the machine you see at your front . It will measure your mana level and change its colour . "
Â
Jin-Hyuk kept his hand on the machine, his heart ponding in his chest. As it powered up, the air buzzed with electricity , and the screen in front id him began calculating his mana level.Â
Then suddenly the machine stopped. The light flickered, and an error message flashed on the screen.
Â
"ERROR-UNABLE TO DETERMINE RANK."
Â
The room fell silent. He stared at the screen, confused . Did something go wrong? Was he not strong enough to be ranked?
Â
"Is there a problem ?" Jin-Hyuk asked hesitatingly
Â
"No sir , its just that the system is showing error "
" Please wait a moment sir ."Â
Â
The receptionist exchanged nervous glance with her colleagues, unsure of what to do. She made a call to the manager's desk and told him to visit the evaluation room. Just as Jin-Hyuk was about to speak , the door to the evaluation room sway open, and in walked the Manager, a tall, imposing figure with silver hair and a serious expression.
Â
"I heard there was an error" ,the manager said his voice was calm but commanding.Â
Â
He walked over to the machine and glanced at the malfunctioning screen before turning to Jin-Hyuk, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he were determining something no machine could.
After a long pause, the manager spoke.
Â
"Its not that the machine failed" he said, a faint smile forming on his lip. "Its that it wasn't designed to measure someone of your strengths"
Â
Jin-Hyuk blinked in surprise. "What do u mean?"
Â
"U Mr. Sung Jin-Hyuk" the manager said, his voice firm "are an S-rank hunter."Â
Â
"You've already surpassed what the machine can measure," the manager continued.
"Your abilities are far beyond what we expected. That's why it showed an error—it simply couldn't handle the sheer force of your power."
Â
Jin-Hyuk stood frozen , struggling to process everything." S-rank ". His mind raced with questions, but one thing was clear he was destined for far more than he had ever imagined.
The manager placed a hand on Jin-Hyuk shoulder.
"Welcome to the Hunter's Association. You have a great responsibility ahead of you. The world needs you now more than ever."
Â
As Jin-Hyuk left the association, his thoughts swirled with the realization of his newfound rank. He wasn't just a hunter. He was an S-rank hunter, one of the strongest in existence. The dark forces that threatened the world—he would be their fate.
Â
But with this immense power came an equally immense burden. Jin-Hyuk knew that his journey was only beginning. The true test of his strength would come not from machines but from the battles ahead.
And he was ready.
