In the New World, within the borders of Totto Land, the Whole Cake Island archipelago…
A dragon descended from the sky, shaking Big Mom's territory. The ensuing chaos only subsided when Charlotte Linlin, one of the Four Emperors, unleashed her own Conqueror's Haki, splitting the clouds above.
"Decades have passed, and you've become a pathetic mess, Kaido. And to think that you, along with Shiki and Rayleigh, were defeated by a Marine rookie who appeared out of nowhere… How embarrassing."
"Mamamama…" Big Mom cackled, her voice booming across the island.
"A loss is a loss. It's not the first time for me. At least my reputation for being unkillable remains intact." Kaido's head throbbed, the memories of his recent defeat flooding back.
"Mamamama! Pathetic, Kaido! Reduced to this state by a Kid!" Big Mom's laughter echoed through the air.
"That Kid is Strong. Besides, the fight wasn't over. And even then, with Magellan, Kizaru, and that new Warlord… four Admiral-level fighters… continuing would have been a guaranteed loss. I would have been imprisoned in Impel Down for eternity." Kaido retorted, refusing to admit defeat.
"I see. That 'Black Wing' Ian. I hear that he have some connection to Rayleigh. Even Shanks has become a Yonko now." Big Mom nodded, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Even we Yonko can't fight two Admirals at once. If they dispatched even one to Impel Down, you would've been trapped."
"And your 'unkillable' reputation would become your eternal torment." Kaido's heart sank. He had made a wise decision by retreating. There used to be only three Admirals, each responsible for their own territory. But with the addition of Ian and Fujitora, the Marines had more manpower to spare.
"Linlin, I'm here to warn you. Focus on your own territory. The Marines don't have the resources to cause trouble in the New World yet. Consider this me repaying my debt." Kaido's voice was serious.
"Mamamama! Such bold words, Kaido! And to think those two favors were for your own benefit. The Fish-Fish no Mi, Model: Azure Dragon, and… well, you and I…" Big Mom's laughter boomed again.
"Shut up! Those incidents might have benefited me, but one of them left a scar I'll never forget. We're even now." Kaido's eyes turned red, his voice a furious growl.
Over two decades ago, Big Mom had used the Fish-Fish Fruit as leverage, demanding a child bearing his lineage and strength.
Back then, they were both rising stars in the Rocks Pirates, second only to Whitebeard and Shiki. Big Mom had been a great beauty in those days, and Kaido had foolishly believed he had found love. It turned out she was indiscriminate, preying on every powerful member of the crew, turning the Rocks Pirates' ship into a veritable breeding ground.
As pirates, indulging their desires was in their nature, a fact that had contributed to Big Mom's current corpulent form. That period had become a nightmare, a source of shame for Kaido and the other victims. After the Rocks Pirates disbanded, Big Mom's behavior had only escalated. If not for the limitations of race and species, she would have taken even the weakest individuals as her partners.
"Though… I'm rather fond of Yamato." These were Kaido's parting words. When he had left the Rocks Pirates, he had taken Yamato with him, leaving his other children with Big Mom. Then, transforming into his dragon form, he soared into the sky, leaving the stunned pirates below.
Only after he had vanished did they recover from their shock. Even in defeat, a Yonko's power remained awe-inspiring and terrifying.
"Tch. Yamato's unlucky to have you as a father. A daughter raised as a son… That constant drinking has addled your brain." Big Mom scoffed. No sane person, even one as strong as Kaido, would constantly seek death and destruction.
"Oven, Daifuku, Katakuri… Do you see? That's your father. While I don't bother remembering those men, I must admit, Kaido is one I won't forget. Many didn't survive, but he not only lived but became an Emperor of the Sea. Even John died."
"Huh?" Even the three brothers, despite their high status and power within Totto Land, were shocked by this revelation.
They had never questioned their parentage, relying solely on appearance, physique, and race to make assumptions. Considering Kaido's power, which surpassed even Big Mom's, he was indeed a figure worth remembering.
"No wonder some of our older siblings are so strong. Their father is Kaido! They even resemble him. Unlike our father… ugly and weak…"
Many of Big Mom's children harbored similar thoughts but dared not voice them aloud. After all, criticizing their father was indirectly criticizing their mother.
...
"When did the Marines become so competent? Several Admirals at Impel Down, and both Shiki and Kaido defeated?"
Mohji and Cabaji, addressed Buggy, "It was that Black Wing Ian who defeated Doflamingo, Shiki, Rayleigh, and Kaido. But so what? Captain Buggy fought him to a standstill!"
"After all, Captain Buggy sailed with Roger! Even his good friend Shanks became a Yonko. We just chose not to go to the New World. Otherwise, we would be the fifth Emperor."
Mohji mused. The other pirates, overhearing their conversation, paused their revelry and turned their attention to the red-nosed man seated on the throne. Buggy, his orange hair ablaze, his blue and white striped shirt unmistakable, had once again successfully crafted candles for the festivities. Below him, a figure in a swan costume danced and sang, their appearance constantly shifting. Mr. 3, the Candle-Candle Fruit user.
They were Galdino (Mr. 3) and Bentham (Mr. 2), former members of Crocodile's Baroque Works. They had initially sought to join Baroque Works, but upon arriving, they learned of Crocodile's defeat and imprisonment.
They had then joined Buggy's crew, the newly appointed Warlord of the Sea, becoming the party planner and entertainer, respectively. They had found Buggy to be surprisingly approachable, lacking the conceit and aloofness of most powerful figures. He was a goofball, easily blending in with his subordinates.
"Wow… Our captain is that strong? He never mentioned it." Bentham and Galdino exclaimed in surprise. Buggy grinned, a sudden air of conceit radiating from him.
It was the flash of a camera behind him. "I prefer to keep a low profile. Out of respect for my good friend Shanks, I didn't want to challenge him for a Yonko position in the New World. So I just grabbed a Warlord title to play around with."
"Yeah, Captain Buggy is the best!" The crew cheered, their voices filled with excitement and unwavering loyalty, their captain's confidence infectious.
So what if the Marines had a powerful newcomer like Ian? They were the Buggy Pirates, and their captain, Buggy, had sailed with Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King, and was a sworn brother of Shanks, a Yonko. He was a Warlord of the Sea!
...
Along with Rayleigh, Shiki, and Kaido, Ian's name had become synonymous with power and ruthlessness. his actions had sent shockwaves throughout the world, making him a figure of both awe and fear.
And as the central figure in these events, Ian, the "Black Wing," had become a household name, his swordsmanship and Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit power the subject of countless rumors and legends.
Even among Marine Vice Admirals, few possessed titles or epithets that were widely recognized and used. Those who did, like "Fist" Garp, "Strategist" Sengoku, "Black Arm" Zephyr, were legends in their own right, their names striking fear into the hearts of pirates across the globe.
While many considered Ian to be too young and inexperienced compared to figures like Garp and Sengoku, his power at such a young age was undeniable. If he survived, a place among the world's strongest fighters was practically guaranteed, perhaps even at the very top.
"Damn Garp! Dragging me into his schemes… Playing along with those brats… My head is splitting! It's a good thing I left early. Otherwise, I would've been forced to fight Shiki and Kaido! Even Roger and Rayleigh couldn't guarantee victory against them!"
Buggy's eyes welled up with tears. Was it true, as that devil Ian had claimed? Did he possess some sort of "Conqueror's Luck" protecting him from harm?
...
On Amazon Lily, within the palace…
"'Doflamingo has been stripped of his Warlord title!" Hancock's sisters stared at the newspaper in disbelief.
Amazon Lily was located in the Calm Belt, a region infested with Sea Kings, making it inaccessible to most ships and pirates.
"So many legendary pirates...." An elderly woman, small in stature but commanding in presence, stood within the palace, her face grim. She was Gloriosa, also known as Elder Nyon, the former Empress of Amazon Lily.
Before her, upon the palace throne, sat a woman of exquisite beauty, her long black hair cascading down her back, her captivating eyes drawing all who gazed upon her into their depths, her lips full and inviting, her skin flawless and pale as snow.
It was Boa Hancock, the Pirate Empress, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
"it was this newcomer who ultimately defeated him.." Hancock sat gracefully upon her throne, one leg elegantly crossed over the other, her face tilted upwards, a playful smirk gracing her lips.
News Coo rarely visited Amazon Lily, due to its remote location in the Calm Belt. Communication with the outside world was limited. They had only just received news of Doflamingo's downfall, along with the invasion and defeat of Shiki and Kaido.
They had believed that Hancock's Warlord title would protect their nation from harm, but the recent events had shaken their confidence. Several Warlords had been replaced in a short period. Fortunately, the system itself hadn't been abolished.
"The Warlords and the World Government share a relationship of mutual exploitation. Once a Warlord loses their value, they are discarded and eliminated."
Elder Nyon approached the throne, her serpent staff tapping against the floor, her voice heavy with concern. "The entire Donquixote Family, destroyed in such a short time… And Admiral Kizaru was personally involved. It's a disturbing development."
Elder Nyon dismissed the attendants with a wave of her hand, the palace doors closing behind them. She then continued, her voice low.
"That Doflamingo fellow… with a name like Donquixote… he likely had ties to the Celestial Dragons…"
The mention of the Celestial Dragons cast a pall over the room, the expressions of Hancock and her sisters darkening.
"Not just ties. He was a Celestial Dragon, though he lost his privileges long ago. As for what will happen to the Celestial Dragons… well, I doubt the others will care about Doflamingo's fate. And even if they did… so what?" Hancock mused, her mind drifting back to the brand of the Celestial Dragons seared onto her back, a permanent reminder of her traumatic past.
But the mark on her back remained, a constant reminder of the horrors she had endured.
Even now, nightmares haunted her sleep…
