The Trannjsa Conglomerate could not truly be called a dynasty. It was not a succession of familial rulers. But they considered themselves to be such. The rulers were instead a succession of handpicked like minded people. Each Black and White President chose their own successor. Usually guaranteeing the previous leader's continued influence access in government.

For eons Black and White presidents always consulted previous blacks and whites and also gave them priority in business deals conducted with the Conglomerate.

Fanatical loyalty developed within the Conglomerate and with it widespread corruption.

Rachel sat at the head of the long table, as usual, and looked at the people before her. She found herself once again contemplating her whys and why she had so many of them.

Why was there so much to do?

Why was there always something to do.

Why is there always someone in need?

Why did she always want to help?
