George now became even more motivated. For the first time, George could make Grandma Beatrice shut her mouth, 'Yes, he is actually starting work this coming Monday.'
Grandma Beatrice's body experienced mixed emotions, she became even more stiff, rattled, gathered her courage back, but still feeling defeated, 'Stop mortifying yourself boy! Am I that stupid in your eyes? Do you think it's that easy to get employed at ZamCorp Base One?'
She fired a series of questions and gave him a strong, fierce look. It meant stop lying. George, however, did not look shaken, it was his moment to be on top, no change in his posture.
'I am telling you the truth. Have I ever lied to you?'
Grandma Beatrice went and sat down on her favorite chair in the living room. Leaned her chin on the end of her palm. She was now having second thoughts.
'Are you serious?'
Grandma Beatrice pressed on.
She knew one thing about George, that he was not a liar. And would never lie about something that big. George first nodded his head, 'I meant every word.'
Grandma Beatrice shook her head, lost in thoughts.
'This can't be, this is unbelievable?' Grandma exclaimed in disbelief.
George was definitely satisfied, fulfilled, at least he won this time and maybe Grandma Beatrice would have a different point of view over Delvin.
'You better believe it, granny.' Insisted George.
Grandma Beatrice had not yet given up. She was still searching from every possible angle, perspective to turn things her way.
'You see, your friend's life will never be the same if he is good at what he does. What did he study? Or has he been hired as a janitor?'
Grandma Beatrice asked.
George chuckled, in amazement at how his Grandmother couldn't concede defeat.
You are a tough woman, aren't you? Questioned George in his mind.
'He studied Electrical and electronics engineering.' Replied George incredulously.
Grandma Beatrice's mind felt almost like exploding because of Georges' response.
'Oh my gosh! He is smelling money now. You will never be on the same level as him. Learn from him as much as you can. How old is he?' Grandma Beatrice inquired.
At the back of her mind, Grandma Beatrice wished it was George. This could have been life-changing for their family. George was not in a hurry to give his feedback, he could read Grandma Beatrice's thought, she was undoubtedly cooking up something, 'eighteen years.'
She now wanted to know Dastany, she actually wanted him to be part of her family. With a low tone, Grandma Beatrice came out,
'Only the sky is the limit for him. I have heard some gossip that there are a lot of projects that ZamCorp Base One is working on. One of them is to create a spacecraft that would go out of earth in orbit in search of other planets with water. If the project works out, we might be saved from this global warming. I am praying for them to succeed. I want to see my grandchildren grow, lead them on the right path.' Grandma Beatrice remarked.
Georges' father worked for the military on another continent, he so badly wanted George to study accounts and join the military. Georges' dream, however, was to become a great painter. He never had a proper education in that line, so he ended up doing different jobs in order to finance himself since his father did not. That's the thing that brought both George and Dastany together, who is also a fan of painting and an artist too.
'You see, granny, I am not that stupid. I will not just be dragged into a job that I don't have any slight interest in. I will find my own way to survive.' Commented George.
Grandma Beatrice tried to reason over Georges' words. She knew he had a point, but life was just something else at that moment.
'Do it soon son. And try to live your best life possible.' Advised Grandma Beatrice.
A soft female voice came from the entrance,
'Granny! I am home.'
It was Brenda announcing her arrival.
Grandma Beatrice had prepared something different for her though. Probably scorning.
'Brenda, where have you been? You children want to kill me from high blood pressure?' Demanded Grandma Beatrice demanded for an explanation, her body posture looking as if she might explode.
She changed so suddenly from being so calm and gentle to being absolutely angry. George laughed from the inside and thought his Grandmother must have been an actress, some time back or in her previous life.
Brenda was well poised, she was in a good mood, and nobody could change it today.
'Relax granny! The world has changed, people travel and work in the night, no one wants to get scorched by the sun during the day. I thought you would know that by now, it's only at ZamCorp Base One where people work during the day.'
Brenda spoke to cool Grandma Beatrice's temper.
Zoom Multi Corporation Base One was on people's minds today. Grandma Beatrice could not pass up the opportunity to comment on Delvin's achievement.
'Speaking of which, your brother told me that Devin is now an employee of ZamCorp Base One. Can you believe that?' Plumbed Grandma Beatrice.
Grandma struck her eyes at Brenda, curious about what could be Brenda's reaction to the news. Brenda glanced at George for confirmation.
'Granny, it's Delvin. George, is that true?'
Her full attention focused on George, who did not rush but took his time. He smiled, showing great confidence, 'Have I ever lied?'
George flung back his own question, looked at his sister as she placed her handbag on the glass table.
'Wow! This is great news, granny. We should invite him to come over and celebrate his achievement. He has suffered so much for a long time, he has great results from Apex university. I am really happy for him.'
This was something new to Grandma Beatrice. She needed enlightenment.
'He went to Apex university? That university is one of the greatest universities we have in the Southern region. How come I did not know about that?'
Grandma Beatrice was a bit offended by her ignorance. Brenda also had to tramp on her right away. 'You never asked, besides, life can be full of surprises.'
Brenda enunciated in joy and smiled mischievously.
At Death Driven Valley, Delvin had exhausted his energy base. It's enough for the night, besides it is almost five thirty A M.
'Delvin, don't worry, you know you can now walk in the sun without being dehydrated. Your body can withstand the heat. You can not even get a sweat drop.' Skylark informed Delvin.
Thank you, Skylark, for the heads-up. I just don't want people to know about this power. I might put targets on my back. I desire to enjoy life as a normal person. I do have a dark past I don't have to go to.
'OK, you are the boss.' Skylark affirmed.
Delvin started running home. By the time he had reached there, it was five fifty-five A M. He looked at his watch, it was the same minutes as he captured when going. He picked up his bathing towel, dry-cleaned his body, got his roll on, smeared it in his armpits. Changed his clothes, picked up the perfume and sprayed it on his body.
I now smell better.
He sat on his chair, pressed the Granetor button, it brought the hologram display. He pressed on the option contract, and it brought a series of instructions. Delvin's first interest was money.
The following is the Zoom Multi Corporation Base One Contract Agreement.

Delvin was done perusing the contract, Skylark?
The display turned on in his mind.
'Yes, Delvin.'
Can the contract information on this Granetor be synchronized to my system?
'Yes.'
Please help me do that.
'Extracting and syncing the contract information of Zoom Multi Corporation Base One.'
Announced Skylark, a ding-dong sound followed after.
Delvin did not have any use for Skylark right now. Skylark, go to sleep mode.
Skylark went to sleep. A knock came at the door. Without any thoughts, Delvin knew that it was George.
'Come in, George,' Delvin called out. The door was pushed from outside, which gave a squeaking sound. He walked in while Dastany was observing his every step, trying to figure out his mood. George, however, was in his lively world.
'Hello Delvin!'
Delvin was aware that George had been working. Perhaps it is best to start from there.
'How was work?'
