Chapter 40 - Battle against a shapeshifter [3]

For a brief moment after his target sheathed his last Stiletto and extended his fists outward in a boxing stance, the invisible enemy was stunned.

With a silent question in his cold and calculating eyes, he stared at the boy, wondering what he was driving at.

He didn't think deeper into it though. It was not in his place to think, rather it was his place to kill instead.

And then, he moved again.

With his eyes still tightly closed shut, still pouring God essence into activating his healing God power, Paul placed the rest of his efforts and attention into his foresight God power while paying keen attention to his surroundings.

This was why the moment that the shapeshifter moved again, he knew.

The shapeshifter attacked from the front, but from behind, a dagger silently stabbed towards his head pushed by the power of telekinesis, cutting through the air with deadly intent.

With his eyes still closed, calmly, Paul moved his left hand backward, grabbing this dagger by the hilt as he felt a resistance immediately. 'Telekinesis!' He confirmed with the same calm cold look on his face.

Immediately after grabbing the hilt of the dagger with his hand, Paul finally felt the air before his face move, but his right hand was already punching forward.

BOOM!

A loud sound reverberated, courtesy of Paul's devastating right hook punch.

At the last moment, the incoming claw retracted on noticing the devastating punch, another display of the shapeshifter's incredible movement speed and reaction speed but having expected it, Paul was one step ahead.

It helped a lot that with his foresight, he had already seen the true form of his opponent, knowing that he was a humanoid black cat.

Immediately after the enemy retracted his claw back to dodge the punch, from a punch, Paul opened his palm, jerking his hands sideways as he grabbed.

He felt his palms tighten around fur.

"Hiss…!"

Letting out a shrill hissing sound, this elusive black cat squirmed out of his grasp immediately as another dagger cut Paul on his leg from behind.

Paul ignored the new injury, a bright white radiance already covering it as he looked at his palm, at the black fur on it.

And then, for the first time, he revealed a slight grin.

Without saying a word, with the same hollow look in his sunken eyes, he settled in his combat stance, readying his fists for battle again.

The air around him seemed to solidify, a reflection of his incredible concentration at this moment.

There was a few seconds of silence, Paul wondered what his enemy was thinking about but just like he expected, the shapeshifter didn't stay waiting for long. This guy was still fully confident in his advantage, he believed he would win.

He charged in for the attack again.

And then, the rampage started.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Paul's fists unleashed punches like bullet shots from a pistol.

To the outsider who looked inside this alley, all they would see was a man in a tattered black cloak and brown leather armor filled with blood punching rapidly, embroiled in an intense battle against an invisible opponent.

It almost seemed like Paul was crazy, fighting against an enemy of his own imagination if not for the blood on his body and the carnage that slowly but surely spread through this alley.

The shapeshifter still had the upper hand, totally violating his opponent's body, but unlike before, Paul could now block his claws with his bare hands, spamming his healing power on them to recover while counter-attacking.

Unlike his Stilettos, due to his superhuman strength, Paul's hands would not shatter and unlike God powers like healing that burned God essence, superhuman strength was a totally passive God power.

Paul had infinite access to it.

Every one of his punch was packed with devastating power. He had only punched his opponent 2 or 3 times, but the impact was felt.

The shapeshifter's movements were slower, more careful, and more calculated as he acknowledged the threat of his prey.

He was no longer diving in for the riskiest attack patterns to deal the greatest damage in as little time as possible, having admitted defeat to his opponent's ridiculous healing ability already.

To the bystander, it would seem like Paul was just enduring, simply elongating his suffering. It truly seemed that way as his God essence was already running low again after expending so much on healing.

Yet, with his eyes tightly closed, Paul's will remained unbending.

He already analyzed the combat style of his opponent thoroughly, all he wanted and waited for was an opening, a window of opportunity to strike.

And finally, after 2 more minutes of this battle since he decided to fight with his fists, the opening he yearned for came.

His God power of foresight triggered again.

BZZT!

This time, the shapeshifter attacked from the side straight at his head with his deadly claws.

Paul did not move his body, only bending his head slightly as the claws rushed past, slightly brushing against his cheek and that was when his body geared to life fueled by the incredible adrenaline flowing through his veins.

Having waited 2 whole minutes for this opportunity, Paul did not let it slip as he grabbed the demonic beast's arm with both of his hands, locking it tightly.

"…!"

For a brief moment, Paul felt his enemy's panic.

This shapeshifter jerked his furred hand aggressively, trying to retrieve it but Paul's superhuman strength reared its head overbearingly, overpowering him.

By grabbing his opponent finally, Paul rendered his invisibility advantage void.

But this shapeshifter still had telekinesis.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

His daggers came rushing in from all sides. Despite the fact that he was panicking, this was an experienced awakened warrior, a killer.

He didn't control his daggers to attack mindlessly, rather directing all of them to his enemy's hand, targeting his nerves and muscles.

If he could cut Paul's muscles and weaken his arms, he would be free.

The whole action at this moment was transpiring in seconds.

Yet, as the daggers rushed in, under the glow of the sun from up high, Paul's body suddenly shone with even brighter radiance like he became the sun itself.

The daggers met their target, dicing his arms up ruthlessly yet simply gritting his teeth through the pain, Paul held firm, healing all the injuries just as they were inflicted. His firm grim never buckled once.

His opponent panicked, and finally, he moved, executing his plan.

Before the shapeshifter could think of another thing, Paul did it.

5 days ago, on his first day using his God power of superhuman strength, due to his inexperience as a warrior, Paul let a Heimdall overpower him, holding him in a chokehold, not today.

This time, taking full advantage of his prodigious strength, Paul overpowered the shapeshifter easily, spinning him round before holding him from behind in a chokehold.

Once he did it, he tightened his grasp.

Crack!

Paul heard a few bones breaking as this Odin groaned in pain. That cracking sound felt like music to his ears, he tightened his grip even more.

Paul didn't stop at that though as falling on his back with his opponent in tow, he made his chokehold perfect even as his legs rose up, tightening around the demonic black cat's torso and keeping it firmly in place.

This shapeshifter could not even struggle!

Paul choked him!

Mere 5 seconds later, the invisibility broke, exposing the humanoid black cat as it gasped for breath, dying.

25 seconds later, the demonic black cat finally stopped moving, going limp.

10 seconds later, the demonic black cat transformed into a human with extremely pale skin and silky black hair.

Another 10 seconds later, Paul finally let go.

The shapeshifter was dead.
