Chapter 11 - The power of Gods [1]

"Originally, after awakening, an awakened is supposed to get access to only one power from the Divine God that acknowledged him".

"But with a Cosmopolitan, it's different".

"And with you," Mr. John paused, looking at the boy. "You're an even greater enigma than the normal Cosmopolitan".

"After his awakening, your dad awakened 2 powers. Openly, he gained incredible wine brewing powers from the Divine God Dionysus while secretly, he gained the superhuman strength of the Divine God Ares, the God of War".

"Unlike your father, you were acknowledged by even more Divine Gods, 5".

"Factions are best at helping their new members understanding their powers and learning how to best make use of them but right now, we don't have that luxury so we'll try to substitute as a faction".

"Paul, you were acknowledged by 5 Divine Gods, Ares, Thor, Hera, Apollo, and Poseidon".

"We'll start from the domain that I'm more familiar with, the Divine God of my faction, Apollo the Sun God".

From the time of the burial in the morning and the subsequent talk between Paul, his aunt, her husband, and the lean man, it was already more than 3 hours.

By now, the sun was already full in the sky, shining its golden brilliance upon the world.

After their conversation, like the lean man suggested, Paul had to learn to control his powers as a Cosmopolitan and to control them, first, he had to know the exact powers that he awakened.

But that was not the only priority.

Like the lean man also said, the order of the triple six would definitely come again in search of him. They had to be prepared for their arrival.

This was why Aunt Ariel's husband delegated roles between himself and his wife. He would be in charge of pushing Paul to find out the 5 powers that he awakened from the 5 Divine Gods that acknowledged him.

As for his wife, she was responsible for getting the farm ready for battle.

Aunt Ariel's commercial farm may look like just that, a farm but it was more than that. Aunt Ariel like his sister, Sophia was an awakened of the faction, Dionysus while her husband was factioned to the Sun God.

And they were not the only awakened in the farm. Among the dozens of workers in the farm, there were two other awakened warriors.

Of course, none of them was especially conversant with combat which was why Aunt Ariel had to go out of her way to look for reinforcements.

There were pros and cons to being a commercial farmer, but one important pros of it was that Aunt Ariel had a lot of connections; connections to mundane people, rich merchants, and powerful awakened warriors.

Afterall, everyone must eat.

Her farm sold their produce to multiple villages and even people from faraway towns braved the journey to purchase her farm produce in bulk.

Aunt Ariel was sufficiently connected.

That morning, leaving with one of the awakened workers in the farm, Aunt Ariel went to seek help from the prominent awakened customers of her farm.

With her gone, her husband and the lean man were in charge of Paul.

At this moment, standing under the direct glare of the sun in the middle of the farm, feeling the heat scorch his skull, Paul stared at his aunt's husband.

At this moment, Mr. John held a big book with a thick wooden cover. On its back was written the title in bold.

{Bible of the Sun God, Apollo}

"In the book of 3rd Sun vs 15, the sacred scriptures say, the Sun God is benevolent and to his chosen, he gives gifts, powers to perform miracles".

"For to one is given by the sun the power of prophecy, to another the miracle of healing, to others he gave eternal youth, to some he gave music, to others, archery, while the favored received sun enhancement or the blessing of the sun".

"To receive one of these miracles, believe in God, become one with the sun".

Bam!

Mr. John finally closed the big bible and looked at Paul. "That's it, self-explanatory, right?"

"All you have to do is believe. The Sun God already acknowledged you, now acknowledge him back to get his power".

"All you need to do is believe in him".

"While doing it, try to focus on the sun, it helps".

Saying to this point, Mr. John smiled. "Personally, I received sun enhancement from the Divine". This man smiled with satisfaction. "Since then, my life has never been the same".

"I have basic control over the sun, I can speed up photosynthesis which greatly contributes to our farm yield".

"Mixed with the fertilizers synthesized by my wife is why our farm is so successful. Don't worry, you won't regret the blessing of the Sun God".

While his uncle blabbered on, Paul already closed his eyes as he focused.

The memory of yesternight was still vivid and fresh in his head.

Paul wanted nothing remotely related to farming, he wanted power… and this was why he focused, more than he had ever done in his life before now.

It took him very little time, just a few seconds, and he got an epiphany.

Opening his eyes, Paul stared at his uncle. "Uncle, do you have a knife?"

"Yes, why?" He brought out his hunting knife.

Taking the knife, Paul held it to his wrist even as his uncle's eyes widened then he slit his wrist. Blood flowed.

Paul grimaced slightly but he closed his eyes again, ignoring the pain. A few seconds later, the sun seemed to shift to his will and all of a sudden, a golden glow coalesced on top his wrist.

In a few dozen seconds, the cut was healed.

"The power of healing!" Mr. John exclaimed.

Paul clenched his fist, looking at where he just cut himself that now looked brand new again. He smiled. 'So, this is the power of the Gods'.

Paul got his first power as an awakened.

Whereas discovering his first awakened power was easy, the same could not be said for the others. He struggled to get a connection with the remaining 4 Gods.

In the afternoon, Mr. John finally decided it was time for a break.

While he left to go prepare food, Paul stayed behind in the scorching sun with the lean man who never strayed too far away from him like some loyal bodyguard.

With his uncle gone, Paul looked at this lean man.

They had a conversation.
