Chereads / SHANAZER, THE LEGEND / Chapter 23 - Injected

Chapter 23 - Injected

What do you want to do to my daughter?'

Fuming, the old man questioned in a worried tone.

'Do you want your relative to live or not?'

Shanazer responded with a serious tone. The old man shook his head. He loved his granddaughter with all his mighty and could do anything possible to sustain her life.

Gazing into his eyes, she found the answer. She squeezed the young lady's arm, a bluish vein came out, she then injected the unconscious young lady in the vein.

Everyone at the Matebeto Night Feast glanced at Shanazer in a strange way. The question being where she did get the antidote she injected the young lady lying unconscious in her grandfather's arms.

'Will she awake?'

Looking at Shanazer for the solution, who also didn't know what to reply. Luckily, in the next 3 minutes, the young lady regained consciousness, 'Taonga!'

The old man shouted in an inexpressible tone, overwhelmed by a mixture of emotions and euphemism, 'How are you feeling?'

'I …' She tried to speak, ending up coughing clotted dark blood.

'Take it easy, give her some water please.' Shanazer instructed.

Cathy Williams, who had full expectations of witnessing Shanazer make herself a fool, ashamedly walked out of the Matebeto Night Feast.

In the crowd were also Olivia, Auntie Freya and Vincent. Their minds tried to piece together what had just happened. Their eyes focused on Shanazer and the young lady.

'Taonga, speak to me.'

Implored the old man, his heart emphatically wanted to know if his granddaughter had been healed, though his eyes were already filled with exceptional hope. In view of the fact that a miracle had occurred, he just needed vindication.

'Granny Pa,' his eyes brazed with absolute joy, 'I am fine, help me up.'

She weakly managed to utter it, though weak it produced an incredible thrill in the old man and the bystanders.

The old man helped his granddaughter sit upright and threw a deep tearful hug. In his eyes, tears ran on his cheeks, he continued to squeeze her strongly with a hug.

Smiles could be seen in the crowd, seeing how emotional the old man became, others even dropped tears as they shared affection with him.

The old man then looked up at Shanazer, who also lost herself in this deep affectionate hour. This hadn't been a normal occurrence for her, she had no blood like related family to share with them such moments as this, and the adopted family were not much of emotional type of people.

'Thank you so much,' The old man gave his gratitude, eyes still full of tears, while some ran down his cheeks and were not yet wiped out. He used his free hand to clear off the tears from his eyes and cheeks.

'You are welcome.' Shanazer said, respectively.

'What is your name?'

The old man followed up, he definitely needed to know the name of the person who had saved his granddaughter.

'Shanazer Athens.'

'Thank you so much, miss Athens once again.' He repeated.

'Here is my card with no password. You can transact as much as you can with no limit.'

He handed a bank card to Shanazer, who did not respond to this warm, polite, thankful gesture.

'I am sorry I can't accept that, I did what I did because it was the right thing to do.'

Shanazer turned to walk away when the old man stopped her in her tracks.

'Wait!'

A quick breather stole some seconds, 'Here, have my business card then, and I would love for you to come to our house so that we can show you how grateful we are.'

The old man insisted hurriedly, his honesty purely plain.

She faced the old man, 'No need I repeat, it was the right thing to do.' Shanazer emphasized.

Annoyance could be seen in some people who thought Shanazer to be faking. Among these self-righteous people were Cathy Williams and her peers standing at a distance near the door. Initially they had left but decided to come back, probably to find a loophole for mockery. They smeared Shanazer with grief eyes, she stole their limelight.

Before Shanazer made her next move, manager Dawin came forward, 'Young lady, it would be wise to accept the invitation, it's rare and not simple that you get a free invitation with the Degrarosa Mottorways, head of the family.'

He smoothly whispered in Shanazer's ears.

While all this drama was at play, he had his henchman dig out who this old man and granddaughter were. It came to his attention that the old man was one of the biggest tycoons of their time, but he had a low profile and was never in the spotlight.

Manager Darwin also recorded the earlier beef between Shanazer and Cathy Williams. According to his judgement, it would be wise if Shanazer aligned herself with this powerful figure like Mr Charles Degrarosa.

In that way, her life might not be in much less danger from the Williams family, other than that she wouldn't be able to live that long on the surface of Ventrander.

After pondering from multiple angles, Shanazer found no reason to refuse the invitation.

'Give me your phone.'

Shanazer said, she received the phone, tapped it against hers. She gave back the phone to the old man, who repeated his thanks for the third time.

The crowd started dispersing when Shanazer's eyes met Xander. Instantly shyness encompassed her, realizing that he must have witnessed all that took place. She didn't know what to think of at that moment. Above everything else, she remembered her ruthless act, when she questioned the goon who poisoned the young lady.

Interrupting her thoughts were the police who budged in. They straight away went to caff the goon, then the officer in charge advanced to manager Darwin. He quickly explained the incident in detail.

Shanazer almost escaped when the officer in charge caught her. He recognized her, 'You are to come with me to give a statement at the police station.'
