I allowed him a few minutes to quench his thirst, but I feared someone might come by.
"Go... they need you..."
"How can I leave you like this..."
"You have to go, or they'll come for you," I broke free from him. "And what will happen when they see us?"
Oh, his eyes in that moment! They seemed as if they weren't from this world, as if they were wandering through the universe, leaving only his soul here. His desire.
"Dominik... don't do this to us. After all, this is your wedding."
"That's what they want! There will be no wedding, thanks to your passion..." he pulled me close. "I want to go to America and start my life there... Let's run away together!"
"America? I guess I'll need an American suitcase then..." I was completely in love.
"Do you know how happy I am that you came back to me?"
He grabbed me again, and I didn't want to leave his embrace... But life always complicates things, and I hope it will uncomplicate them as well.
His future wife found us. She wasted no time and immediately called her family. I believe she flew to them and loudly announced what she had seen. I was terrified then.
Dozens of people arrived and separated us. They dragged him into another room, while they wanted to eliminate me. They all transformed into terrifying creatures with dreadful expressions, as if they craved blood.
I started running through the courtyard, and luckily Kadjar hid me in some bushes. Then he led me to the street through a side exit and called a taxi. He advised me not to tell anyone where I had been or what I had seen.
"What will happen to Dominik?" I tearfully asked him through the taxi window.
"I don't know... but wait for him. He's crazy about you, so he'll definitely get out of this."
"... "
The taxi drove away.
Wait for him? I just hope he makes it out alive!
As soon as the sun rises, I'll call Benjamin to find out more.
Everything still seems so incomprehensible and unreal to me...
His POV
I feel drunk. I'm intoxicated by her blood. I wanted her so badly, and she came to me on her own...
Truly, her blood is special. It weakens me in her presence, yet strengthens me when she's not around, and I have an overwhelming urge to find her—and I will. As soon as I get out of this ridiculous situation.
The Chaldeans dragged me through the entire villa until we reached my father's salon. I didn't even notice whether the guests had scattered or stayed to enjoy the spectacle. Either way, even if I wanted to pay attention, I couldn't. I'm too... intoxicated. I no longer know who I am; I only know that I want her.
They threw me on the floor at my father's feet. I didn't feel like getting up. I just want them to leave me alone. Let them do what they want, but let them finish quickly so I can get on with my life.
They argued. Quarreled. More and more people entered, taking sides. My people accused hers of hurting me and whipping my back, while her people accused mine of embracing another woman before the wedding.
My—not-to-be, thank God—future wife was so repulsive to me. I couldn't even be in her presence without feeling uncomfortable. Honestly, I believe she insisted on this marriage. I feel evil in that woman.
Even her appearance was like that of a sly fox. I've never met a creepier woman. And just the thought that I almost got stuck in a marriage with her sends chills down my spine...
"We demand an apology from your entire family and submission to our son for this marriage to continue," my father responded.
"An apology? My people didn't do this!" Elaina's father shouted.
"So my son is lying?" My father grabbed him by the collar.
The situation escalated. I just sat in the armchair, eyes closed. The noise in the room was deafening. But that didn't stop me from focusing on what I wanted. On her.
"Stop it! That's enough!" Elaina yelled, stepping between the heads of both families.
"I want the conflict between our families to end for the sake of our people. And I will make sure that happens. Father, I forgive my future husband for what he has done to me. Please, call our people and ask them to apologize to Dominik and his family." Elaina bowed her head and approached my father, kissing his hand.
MY FUTURE HUSBAND? Is this vile woman crazy?
I stood up to protest.
"Well done, my friend, for raising your daughter properly." My father patted her head. "We will forgive you, and there will be no more blood feud if you submit to my son and swear loyalty to him." The heads of our family stood beside him, confirming that this was necessary.
"Father, I don't need anyone to..." I approached him.
"Get out of my sight before I drain all the blood from you, idiot!" my father hissed through his teeth, full of hatred.
I clenched my fist and started to leave the salon, but the Chaldeans stopped me. Then Elaina stood in front of me, looked at me with her foxy eyes, bowed her head, knelt, and kissed my hand.
To everyone's shock, the other Chaldeans followed her lead. My father swelled with pride and joy.
"We have done as you asked, and now it's time to proceed with the wedding, isn't it?" the Chaldean leader answered angrily.
"Father, wait, I have one more thing to say. I want you to be sure that this submission isn't just to Dominik, but to me as his future wife. I want your family to swear loyalty to both Dominik and me, and once we are married, to see us as one. All power will be ours as if we are one. And so should our families be." Elaina declared boldly.
I can't believe it, but they did it. They all submitted to Elaina as if they were bewitched. I couldn't take it. No matter how much I protested, they would have bound my hands and silenced me.
The ceremony will happen after all...
My love, I hope you won't abandon me now... this won't end here. NO WAY!
