Chapter 4 - Chapter four

As I dressed in my shorts and baggy shirt on Friday evening, the soft fabric brushing against my skin, I couldn't help but think of the danger that awaited me. But the prospect of Mia's pool party and the possibility of her parents being absent offered a glimmer of hope, a temporary reprieve from the turmoil at home. I put on my swimming suit, a short and pink bra that hugged my curves, and began to get ready. The eyeliner and lip gloss added a touch of confidence to my appearance, a subtle armor against the uncertainties of the night. I packed my hair in buns, the soft strands framing my face, before leaving the room.

My mum's parting words, "I want you back before 10 pm to take care of your father," echoed in my mind as I made my way out, the familiar knot of resentment tightening in my stomach. I cursed under my breath, wondering why my dad still kept her around, why he tolerated her toxic presence in our lives.

The taxi driver's curious gaze met mine in the rearview mirror as I took a swig of gin from the bottle I had brought along, the cool liquid burning down my throat. "Care for some?" I offered, and he nodded, taking a sip before focusing on the road, the cityscape blurring outside the window.

As we arrived at the estate, the grand entrance took my breath away, the sheer scale of the wrought-iron gates and imposing stone pillars crowned with intricately carved crests leaving me awestruck. The gates' intricate patterns hinted at the opulence that lay beyond, a world of luxury and refinement that seemed almost otherworldly.

Beyond the gates, a winding driveway lined with ancient oak trees led me deeper into the estate's grounds, the trees' branches intertwining overhead like a natural canopy, filtering sunlight and casting dappled shadows on the path below. Shafts of golden light pierced through the foliage, illuminating patches of vibrant green grass, the scent of freshly cut lawn and blooming flowers filling the air.

As I approached the mansion, its stately Georgian architecture and elegant columns left me in awe, the creamy white exterior glowing in the sunlight like a beacon of elegance, contrasting beautifully with the lush greenery surrounding it. The mansion's windows were large and ornate, framed by intricately carved shutters painted a deep, rich mahogany, each one adorned with cascading ivy and colorful flower boxes, adding a touch of whimsy and charm to the imposing structure.

To the left of the main house, manicured gardens stretched out in symmetrical patterns, filled with vibrant blooms and sculpted topiaries, a pristine fountain taking center stage, its waters sparkling in the sunlight as they cascaded gracefully into a shimmering pool below. To the right, expansive lawns rolled out towards the horizon, dotted with age-old trees and tranquil ponds, a meandering pathway winding its way through the verdant landscape, inviting exploration and leisurely strolls.

The estate exuded an air of timeless elegance and refinement, its beauty enhanced by the harmony between man-made structures and the natural world, a testament to the vision and artistry of its creators, a sanctuary of luxury and tranquility nestled amidst the bustle of the outside world.

As I stood before the estate, I felt a sense of awe and wonder wash over me, captivated by its grandeur and beauty. The estate's majestic facade seemed to transport me to a world of luxury and refinement, where dreams were made real and the past and present converged in a symphony of architecture and nature.

Leia's enthusiastic greeting broke the spell, as she jumped onto me, her weight pressing down on my body. "You made it?!" she exclaimed, pecking my face with kisses. "Was I not supposed to?" I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me.

As we made our way to the pool, I couldn't help but notice Leia's outfit - a crop top that showcased her toned midriff, paired with black rogue jeans that accentuated her curves, and her blonde hair that cascaded down her back like a golden waterfall. "Come in, the party is just about to start!" she announced, dragging me along with her.

The swimming pool, tucked away in a secluded corner of the estate, sparkled like a jewel under the warm rays of the evening sun. As we approached, the gentle sound of cascading water filled the air, accompanied by the soft strains of music playing in the background. Youths swam and danced, champagne glasses in hand, while others lounged on the poolside, soaking up the sun's last rays.

A rush of excitement erupted through my veins as I took in the scene. At one end of the pool, a graceful arc of water cascaded from a sculpted stone fountain, creating a soothing symphony of sound and movement. Delicate streams of water danced and shimmered in the sunlight, casting playful patterns of light and shadow across the surface of the pool.

Mia's laughter echoed through the air like a melodic chime, as she watched me dance with reckless abandon. "I don't know you could dance?" she teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement, like diamonds glinting in the sunlight. "Can I?!" I laughed, moving my body to the tune of the music, my hips swaying to the rhythm like a leaf rustling in the breeze. "Maybe, yes!" she laughed even more, her smile infectious, spreading like wildfire through the crowd.

As we joined the party, Mia's plan became clear, like a puzzle piece falling into place. "Come, I got a matching bikini for us!" she announced excitedly, holding up a skimpy bikini that left little to the imagination, its tiny triangles and strings a tantalizing promise of mischief. "I've got mine," I tried arguing, but sensing the finality in her voice, like a door closing with a soft click, I gave in. "Okay!" I relented, curiosity getting the better of me, like a siren's call.

"What's your plan?" I asked, eyeing her mischievously, like a conspirator sharing a secret. "Spill up girl!" she replied, her eyes glinting with mischief, like a match striking flame. "Something enticing! Something hot!! That would announce us!!!" she exclaimed, her voice barely above a whisper, but full of promise, like a whispered secret in a crowded room.
