Chapter 3 - 3: Master and the servants

[Flynn's Pov]

I felt happy when l was given a second chance at life, and I was even happier that I was reborn in another world with both loving parents and siblings. To top it off, everyone was happy the day I was born. There was a huge feast on my birthday, and my father gave me the name Flynn. I was ready to move on and start a new chapter in life and leave my previous name Livik and everything else behind, but I was wrong.

I'm still alone, even in this world. At first, I thought I was just falling asleep frequently because I was a baby, but later, I realized that I carried around me a sleeping virus, which affected everyone who came near me. Because of that, I've never gone outside ever since I was born, and I last felt my mother's warm hands a few years ago.

Just what was the purpose of being reborn if I'm simply going to re-live a life of solitude over and over again.

That light should only have let me die in peace. I wouldn't be suffering like this.

When the maid's made me cry, l took that opportunity to relieve all the sad emotions l felt inside, but I didn't realize that the sleeping virus I was born with was also going wild. It affected a lot of people in the kingdom. But what came next was even more shocking. Just after l falling asleep, l found myself in a white room full of a thousand doors, if not more. I wondered what the doors were for, so out of curiosity, l opened them. The moment I opened one, l saw people inside, smiling and laughing.  They looked like a family. I tried touching them, but they had no physical bodies. They were just holograms. I looked on the far end of the room and saw a person tied by large chains and walked over to him. He was a small child, just maybe around 11 years old.

He looked at me and smiled.

"Thank you for letting me see my parents again,"he said.

I was confused. What was going on, and what did he even mean by that? I had a lot of questions to ask. I touched the chains that binded him, and they started disintegrating into dust. The holograms started fading away too together with the boy, and eventually, the whole room crumbled away, and the next thing l saw, I was back in the first room with a thousand doors.

I got into the next door, and it was just the same as before. There was a person tied by chains, and there were holograms playing around. I touched the chains, and the same thing happened as well.

Just what was going on. The rooms seemed to disappear after i touched the chains. In my state of befuddlement, someone appeared in front of me. It was a girl, maybe around 7 years old, if my estimations were correct, but she didn't look like a normal human. She had ears like those of a fox and a tail, but everything else seemed human.

"Greetings, esteemed master. My name is Miriamelody Imogen Mistralina,"she said, bowing in front of me.

"Miria, what?,"l asked, trying to say her ridiculous long name."

"Miriamelody Imogen Mistralina, master,"she bowed her head low."

Why is she even calling me master, and who is she anyway.

"I can't pronounce your name but that aside. Why do you call me master."

"My kind, the demi-humans have served The King of the Dreams for centuries now. It is our sacred duty and greatest privilege.  The previous King of Dreams passed away a decade ago, and ever since then, we've been waiting for the next King of Dreams to be reborn. I sensed a presence of great power in the dreamworld and came rushing, only to find you, master. Come, I'll show you your fortress..."

"Whoa-whoa-whoa. You're moving too fast. I dont understand all the stuff you keep going on about. "

"I'm sorry, my master. I'll try..."

"Can you drop all this master thing?"

"I can't master."

"Whatever. Suit yourself. So, how do I get out of this place."

"Allow me to explain everything to you master. This place here is called 'The Land Of The Dreams' . As the name suggests, it's a place where people's dreams, hopes, and fears reside. All the doors you see here are doors that lead to someone's dreams. What you saw just earlier when you entered those rooms were their dreams. Every time a person falls asleep and starts dreaming, a room is created here, and when they wake up, the room disappears. However, today, there are a lot of doors to people's dreams all at once because of you, master. You let your power swirl out and made everyone in the kingdom fall asleep. If you don't free them from the chains binding them, they might sleep for eternity. As the new reborn Lord of the dreams, it's your duty to attend to such matters. "

To be honest, I was speechless. It was all too much to digest. Lord of the dreams...master...demi-humans,  a thousand doors.....eternal sleep. All of that was confusing. I couldn't get it.

"You actually said you came here running after sensing great power, only to find me, which means it's your first time meeting me. So how do you know that l caused all those people to sleep. Are you playing with me right now?"

"I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way master. However, making people fall asleep is a power of gods of dreams possess. So l assumed it was you, and look around you. Wherever you step, even the ground itself respects you. "

"So, I'm the lord of the dreams, or god or whatever you call it?"

"Yes, master. You go by a lot of titles. You can be referred to as 'The King of the Dreams,' the lord of the dreams, or the god of the dreams. All these titles perfectly suit you."

I chucked a little, not really believing what this fox girl was saying. "Me...a god?"

"Yes, master. There are a lot of gods in this world. There are gods of fortune, gods of war, gods of calamity, gods of poverty, and so many more."

"Wow.... that's interesting. So, if I'm one of the gods, huh? I bet I'll meet the other gods very soon, right? "

"I suggest you shouldn't meet with the other gods, master. Reason being that the god of dreams has always been underestimated by other gods because they only have powers in the dream world compared to other gods who have immense power in living world. And again, the god of dreams doesn't have worshippers, and he's not well known compared to other gods. Amongst the gods, there is a god of calamity l mentioned earlier, right? He is known and worshipped as Bullard, and him, in particular, is very dangerous. According to our history, he was a mortal enemy of the previous god of dreams. So, to be safe, you should avoid anything to do with him and the rest of the other gods.

"Okay,cool. That makes sense."

"Now, master. Please, give me an order."

"What order?,"I asked, getting even more confused.

"I want to know what you want us to do with all these people chained in the rooms. Should we free them, or do you want to keep them sleeping a bit longer."

"Oh... just free them."

"Okay, master,"she said, standing up, and then she whistled loudly. In that moment, three other demi-humans like her appeared in front of me and greeted me. "

"It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance master,"they bowed down.

"And who are you supposed to be?,"l asked.

"These are the guardians of this realm. They make sure that every dream is directed to where it's supposed to be, and they eliminate all the dark entities that try to harm people's dreams including monsters that cause nightmares and spirits that cause sleep paralysis. Since you're the lord of the dreams, they work under your command, "the girl with a ridiculous long name explained, and I just nodded - not like I understood everything she said.

Just then, the so-called guardians started going from one door to the other, cutting chains that binded people with their swords, and slowly but surely, the thousand doors began to disappear one by one. They looked exhausted but still pushed themselves, so I had to help them out to finish the job.

Just then, another demi-human appeared. Just how many are they? And why are they all little girls?

"Greetings master. I'm afraid I have an urgent matter to report. Your body in the land of the living is in danger. People want you executed, and they've taken you outside.  The King and the Queen have no say in the matter because you've caused harm to almost the entire kingdom,"she said in an urgent tone.

"Oh.. no. We have to go and protect the master's body at all cost,"the Miria-what what girl suggested. Her name is too long. I've forgotten it already.

"I don't think we'll make it in time. Our physical bodies are very far from the kingdom's capital. Even if we go back now, it might be too late because the citizens of Blumund look really angry, and they want nothing but the master's death."

"They want to kill me?,"l asked.

"Yes, master."

"Huh! But ...."

"Master. You have to wake up now and defend yourself.  Just do something to protect yourself even for a short period of time. Just enough time for us to get to the capital to protect you. "

"But... I don't even know how to wake up."

"You're the Dream Lord, so the dreamland is your fortress.  Everything here listens to you, and if you just give a command to wake up, you'll be up."

"Um... okay. Let's try it out then,"I coughed a little to clear my throat. "WAKE ME UP,"I said loudly, and the next thing I saw, l was outside of the kingdom's capital. There were a lot of people there in what looked like a stadium. Ever since I was reborn, I've never gone outside. This was my first time going outside, and I couldn't help but enjoy the feeling of the sun on my bare skin.

I looked on the side and saw my parents looking sad. Mom was even crying.

Then someone with a weird big hat and long beard came toward me and picked me up from my mini-bed.

"He lifted me up and said,"it's with great sadness, but for our kingdom's safety, we shall execute the third prince before it's too late.

I looked at my parents in the eyes, and mom busted in tears. Dad looked on the side and avoided eye contact with me. My two brothers, Zander and Cyrus, who are twins, looked sad as well. And then there was a cute little girl in mom's arms who l assumed was my little sister, Victoria, was it?

I looked back at the man with a long beard, and he wore a serious look on his face. How could they want to kill me before I could even enjoy my life in this world? Before, I'd even walked around and traveled to other places. That's cruel.

Just then, the man with a weird big hat laid me down on an execution table and then called a knight who came with a very long sword. I just guessed he was the one tasked to take my life. He raised his sword high, ready to strike, and I gulped down a lump of saliva that had formed on my neck.
