Chapter 158 - Clash of Fate

— This warrior goddess was born for battle.

The more evenly matched her opponent, the more her fighting spirit surged.

Meanwhile, Angemon, having lost one wing, struggled in the air for a while before barely regaining balance.

It then resumed a battle-ready stance, prepared to counter any attack from Wonder Woman.

Diana leaped into the air, her golden eagle armor unfolding its vibrant golden wings as if alive, soaring through the sky.

She crossed her wrists in the air, her protective silver bracelets clashing together to unleash powerful divine energy.

The radiant light surged towards Angemon in an instant.

Angemon immediately activated its beam shield, the purple arc-shaped shield forming an impenetrable barrier that blocked the divine energy from the protective bracelets.

However, the protective silver bracelets were forged from fragments of Zeus's divine aegis, and the residual power of Zeus could inflict devastating damage on almost anything in the universe.

Although the digital flow beam shield initially held off the first wave of the bracelets' attack, Diana immediately launched a second wave, even more urgent and fierce than the first, surging towards him once more!

Cracks began to appear in the beam shield, which could not withstand much longer.

The cracks spread like a web from the center of the shield outward.

Angemon gritted its teeth, starting to channel power to repair the shield amidst the shockwave, but Diana's third wave of attack shattered it completely!

The shockwave from the protective bracelets engulfed Angemon, the sound of the shattered beam shield resembling a triggered metal switch, which instantly reached Superman's ears.

As he turned his head amidst his relentless battle with Thor, he saw Angemon knocked down by the shockwave.

"Soren!"

The god of humanity immediately flew towards his beloved, attempting to catch the falling Angemon.

But Angemon, in the midst of Wonder Woman's pursuit, raised the Excalibur towards him.

This angel, who had lost one wing, pressed the Angemon against the chest of the god of humanity, saying, "Stay back!"

Clark stopped less than a meter from the tip of the Excalibur.

He looked at Angemon, and then raising his hand to halt Wonder Woman's assault, his open fingers revealing his palm. "Do you know what you're doing, Soren?"

He gazed at Angemon, his voice low and intense.

He was undoubtedly enraged—angry that Soren still chose to point the sword at him, angry at Soren's betrayal, and angry that Soren had long forgotten who he was doing all this for.

His anger clouded his judgment.

He inched closer to Angemon, his voice dropping to a threatening, hushed tone, "I will no longer tolerate you. I'm going to break those damned wings of yours—"

Soren gripped the Excalibur tightly, his eyes widening as Clark spoke, yet he did not step back even an inch.

Behind him stood Wonder Woman, the lives of thousands of warriors in the underground base, Batman, and the future of humanity.

He was like a traveler on the edge of a cliff, risking everything.

He could not retreat because even a single step back meant falling into the abyss.

At that moment, a streak of yellow light appeared in the sky.

The missing Sinestro finally made his appearance.

With red skin, a sharp face, and a slender build, he wore the padded uniform of the Yellow Lantern.

The yellow power ring, drawing its strength from fear, emitted a brilliant daylight glow from his finger.

The yellow light materialized into a square prison cage.

Inside the cage, which had vertical bars, were Renee Hargreaves and Charlie Hargreaves, Soren's adoptive parents.

— It turned out that Sinestro's disappearance was to capture Soren's parents.

Inside the yellow cage, Renee and Charlie were bound hand and foot.

They were filled with shock and fury.

Charlie shielded Renee with his body and glared angrily at Sinestro. "What are you trying to do? Don't think you can use us to threaten Soren! I won't let you do this—"

The red-skinned Yellow Lantern looked pleased.

He hovered at a distance from the battlefield, smugly addressing Superman, "See what I've brought you, Superman? This is the best way to solve your problem."

Despite being a hundred meters away, Soren saw his parents the moment he glimpsed the yellow cage.

He was instantly overcome with terror and rage.

A bone-chilling fear climbed up his body, his eyes involuntarily widening, with red veins spreading across the whites of his eyes.

"Sinestro, if you touch my parents—!"

He shouted furiously, charging towards the Yellow Lantern like a bolt of lightning, only to come to a complete stop in front of a massive candle that the Yellow Lantern had conjured.

Sinestro offered him a grim smile.

"Be careful, boy. Move another inch forward, and the flame from this candle will burn the cage," he called out to Soren, while his gaze shifted to Superman. "You're too soft on him, Kal-El. Sometimes, to get what you want, you need a bit of cunning and resolve. See? This is quite effective, isn't it? I've told you, your approach doesn't work…"

Soren trembled at Sinestro's words.

He was in a panic, feeling as if Sinestro had a grip on his very spine.

Charlie and Renee, his adoptive parents, were the most crucial pieces of his soul.

How could he bear to see them fall victim to Sinestro's threats right before him?

His fear was overwhelming, causing his voice to quaver. "Let them go, Sinestro. I'll do anything you want, please, just let them go—"

"Soren, don't be afraid of him!"

Charlie yelled at him from inside the cage.

He slammed his shoulder against the bars of the cage, his disheveled hair falling over his forehead.

The once handsome and composed middle-aged man now appeared weary and aged, yet he still fought with human resolve against the power of the Yellow Lantern.

"Soren, get out of here! Don't worry about us!" he shouted.

Sinestro shot him a vicious glance, manifesting a strip of tape to firmly seal his mouth.

He then turned his gaze to Superman. "Superman?"
