Chapter 54 - Revelations and the World Engine

His gaze darted around, and he saw Captain America, Black Widow, and Dr. Banner closing in behind Bucky.

All the memories from when Loki had controlled him flashed through his mind, like scenes from a Blu-ray movie, playing out vividly before him—

He saw himself deceiving and hurting Batman, saw himself speaking coldly to Clark, and charging aggressively at Tony…

Help, help, help, help, help, help, help!

Soren felt like he was going to lose it.

His face alternated between pale and flushed, and when he glanced up, he met Tony's gaze, who had lifted his mask.

The shame made him unable to lift his head.

How could he have done all this?!

Soren, panicked and upset, he could feel that tears began to welling up in his eyes.

Huddling in Bucky's arms, he buried his head in resignation, looking pitiful.

Tony landed next to him, his usual carefree expression replaced by shock.

He was truly stunned.

Despite his genius mind, he never imagined that the Angemon, who often bickered with him and fought alongside him on missions, was the very child he had been protecting and watching over all this time.

For the first time in his life, he couldn't think the right words, so he could only clear his throat and say, "Why didn't you ever tell me about this? Listen, this isn't something a good kid does. You should have at least told me."

Soren hurriedly explained, "—I didn't mean to keep it from you, Tony! I just... I just didn't know how to say it…"

Bucky, who is standing next to him let out a snort when he heard this.

Soren covered his face with his hands and staggered to his feet, "Tony, listen to me…"

Tony looked like he didn't want to hear anymore.

He gave Soren a small nod, as if saying, "Alright, you've really done it now," his face showing a mix of anger and helplessness.

He twitched his mouth and raised an eyebrow, "I have to tell your parents about this. No argument."

Soren was so desperate that he almost jumped up.

He wanted to grab Tony and plead, but didn't know where to put his hands on the armored suit, so he could only curl his fingers, "No! You can't tell them, don't tell my mom and dad, please, Tony…"

He wanted to say more, but as he lifted his head, he caught sight of the approaching Wonder Woman and the others in the corner of his eye.

They had already subdued the culprit who was responsible for his current predicament:

The golden Lasso of Truth was wrapped tightly around Loki, binding him securely.

The Star Shield was firmly pressed against Loki's chest.

Loki had even lost his helmet, his face marked with several burn scars, looking disheveled and dirty as he was thrown to the ground.

—Oh no.

In a critical moment, the most reliable ally turned out to be Princess Diana, Wonder Woman.

She held the Mother Box in one hand and the Lasso of Truth in the other, standing tall and powerful with her long, straight legs and commanding presence.

Loki was still barking defiantly, "...How could you possibly defeat me! I am the god of Asgard—son of Odin. What right do you have to defeat me?"

Wonder Woman lifted an eyebrow, looking down at Loki on the ground.

She tightened the Lasso of Truth and said, "You better behave yourself."

The lasso tightened further, almost forcing Loki's arm into his body.

Loki screamed, his face turning pale. "...Let go! I'm telling you to let go!"

…Soren looked at Loki, clenching his fists.

He really wanted to go over and punch him.

If it weren't for Loki, he wouldn't have ended up revealing his true identity in this situation.

Now, he needed to find a way to explain everything to Tony...

Soren was so distressed he could barely think straight.

"Is it impressive?"

A deep, gravelly voice spoke softly behind him.

Soren spun around, his heart nearly stopping—

Batman was standing right in front of him, his broad chest almost touching Soren's face.

Great, another one with a grudge.

He bit his lip, looking upset and on the verge of tears, anxious to check the Dark Knight's injuries, "B, are you okay? Let me see your wounds! I remember... I remember you were badly hurt…"

But Batman turned away, avoiding his hand.

His steel-blue eyes were cold, as he looked down at Soren, as if trying to peer into his very soul, "This doesn't concern you."

He said in a deep, serious tone.

Soren wiped his eyes fiercely, his eyes turned red, "No, it's all my fault…"

The Dark Knight's eyes were emotionless, "Not entirely."

Soren opened his mouth, but Tony interrupted him, "Listen, kid, you'll have to face the consequences later. But now isn't the time to discuss that."

The New York billionaire said seriously.

"That's right," Professor X wheeled himself over, "Right now, we seem to have a more pressing problem."

—He looked up, his blue eyes focused on the distant sky.

In the clear blue sky, a massive, shadowy circle was slowly descending upon them.

It was an enormous alien machine, with a top that was concave and disk-shaped, and four long, tentacle-like legs extending from the bottom, as if a primordial god from chaos was about to descend upon the Earth.

What was even more despairing was that, although they could clearly see the appearance of the unidentified flying object from where they stood, it was actually hundreds of miles away—

This meant that the actual size of the unidentified flying object far exceeded any man-made structure on Earth.

Its grandeur surpassed human imagination.

"What is that?!" Dr. Banner exclaimed.

Soren's pupils widened.

He looked as if he was terrified, his face pale, and murmured, "...That's... the World Engine."

Wonder Woman looked at him from a distance, "The World Engine?"

"You know what that is?" Steve Rogers's voice came at the same time.
