Chapter 5 - Cats and Kryptonians

"Meow, meow, meow! Meow meow!"

Soren kicked his paws around, desperately trying to send a message to little Clark: It's time for <>! Change the channel back now!

In Soren's almond-shaped eyes, the TV screen clearly reflected the cartoon of <<101 Dalmatians>> playing.

He softly tapped Clark's little nose with his paw, fully expressing his frustration.

Of course, this little Kryptonian was a dog lover!

He loved watching cartoons with dogs but had no interest in Soren's favorite sci-fi shows!

If Clark didn't change the channel soon, <> would finish its opening theme!

Soren nudged the little Kryptonian with his head, but instead of responding, Clark gently scratched the back of his neck, making Soren purr uncontrollably.

Ahhh!

Curse this uncontrollable reflex!

Soren's cat eyes almost teared up from the overwhelming pleasure.

Ever since he turned into a cat, he realized that many things were beyond his control in this tiny body.

For example, when startled, his fur puffed up involuntarily.

If he smelled fresh meat, he couldn't resist, and worst of all, the back of his neck was his ultimate weakness.

Whenever someone scratched him there, he couldn't help but purr in satisfaction.

This young Kryptonian was way too clever!

He knew exactly how to exploit a cat's weak spots!

Soren decided to add another note to his mental <>: Very sneaky—knows exactly how to use a cat's vulnerabilities.

Of course, his log was already filled with notes about the little Kryptonian's other odd behaviors.

After multiple checks, Soren confirmed that he had somehow ended up on the Old Earth from the comics.

That's when he began his close observation of this young Kryptonian.

Soren knew everything about the little Kryptonian's origins.

Young Clark, or rather, Kal-El from Krypton, was the last naturally born child of his planet.

Krypton, a highly advanced civilization, faced destruction due to overuse of resources.

Before the planet exploded, his parents sent their infant son to Earth.

The spaceship carrying the last son of Krypton landed in a Kansas cornfield.

The kind Kent family found the baby and decided to adopt him, raising him as their own.

On Earth, the light of the yellow sun would make this child stronger than any Kryptonian and give him powers that was unimaginable to humans.

He was the boy blessed by the sun, the future protector of Earth.

But for now, the future protector was just a clumsy five-year-old kid.

Though this little goofball already had intelligence far beyond that of Earth children (Soren once tested him using a TV quiz show), he didn't seem to enjoy using his extraordinary brainpower to solve problems.

Instead, he preferred being a regular five-year-old.

He loved being human.

He liked watching Jonathan drive the farm tractor, loved children's cartoons on TV, and enjoyed talking to every animal around him.

He loved flowers, grass, sunlight, and the whole world.

And he especially loved running around with Soren while holding Soren high above his head.

Whenever Soren found himself being carried through the cornfield, he couldn't help but tear up in the wind.

This is too much!

The future protector of Earth, a god among humans, is this cute and goofy as a kid?

It's just not fair!

Who can resist those innocent, twinkling Kryptonian-blue eyes?

Every time Soren looked into those eyes, all his principles and boundaries seemed to disappear.

— He couldn't even act like a real cat and bully his owner!

This is what being a cat is really about!

If he were a real cat, he would have successfully snatched the remote from the little Kryptonian and watched his favorite show, <>, to his heart's content.

But he's just a pretend cat with no resistance to the Kryptonian child.

It's not his fault he has weak willpower—he's a fan of adult Kryptonians, and seeing his idol in such a cute childhood state, how could he resist?

He could only compromise for the nth time and watch <<101 Dalmatians>> with the little Kryptonian.

Though watching Dalmatians wasn't too bad.

Ah, the troubles of being a young one—no, the troubles of being a cat in this case.

Soren who are squished into a fluffy white ball by little Clark, had a serious look on his face.

Once again, he was being handled by his little owner, like a soft, white bundle.

Only the moist cat kisses had a tender pink hue.

His four paws stretched out with every squeeze from his little master, revealing his pink, chubby pads.

Little Clark was very happy and hugging his little cat.

He loved his cat so much.

Ever since he found the fluffy ball in the woods a year ago, he had hardly ever been apart from it.

He ate, slept, and played with his fluffy ball.

No matter where he was, he could always see his fluffy ball, and his fluffy ball was always where he could see it.

The fluffy ball is the softest and sweetest little cat in the world!

Clark hugged the soft, fluffy ball, feeling like he couldn't get enough of it.

He kept rubbing the fluffy ball in his hands and buried his nose in its soft belly, taking several deep breaths.

Still not satisfied, he kissed the cat's little ears.

Soren's face turned red from all the kisses.

He quietly used his paw to wipe off the Kryptonian's drool from his ear and tried to stay calm.

He thought to himself that Kryptonian genes must be similar to canine ones; otherwise, why would this little Kryptonian love to kiss and nibble so much?

Having never had much affection in his life, Soren was always flustered by Clark's extreme affection for pets.

Petting a cat is one thing, but kissing it all over?

What's that about!

After they watched TV for a while, Jonathan came back from town.

He was carrying a kids' bicycle, which clearly a gift for little Clark.

Although Clark could already run faster than a car without a bike, Jonathan thought he should have one, just like the other kids in town.
