Alex took the opportunity to embrace Director White, wrapping one arm around her waist and resting his other hand on her legs. He felt her legs tremble slightly beneath his touch but continued, pressing his head against her breast, savoring the warmth and softness of her embrace. The director responded by gently patting him on the head, her face leaning close to his, and whispered softly, "Good brother, get up now. We don't want Emily to see this."
Alex nodded, understanding the situation. He slowly sat up, glancing at her with a smile. Her face was glowing with happiness, a soft flush of warmth and affection radiating from her expression. "Sister, I'm really feeling happy," Alex admitted, "I've found such comfort and happiness in you. I truly want to stay by your side and protect you forever."
Director White smiled warmly, "That's very sweet of you," she replied. "It's also a blessing for me to have a younger brother like you, someone who cares so much. I'm really grateful for your presence. It's been a long time since I've felt this comfortable at home."
Just as the two shared this tender moment, Emily came running out of the house, her excitement bubbling over.
"Mom, godmother wants to speak with you!" Emily called out.
Director White turned to her daughter, "What did you say to your godmother, sneaking into the house like that?"
"I just told her how we were spending the New Year," Emily replied innocently, trying to sound nonchalant. "I told her Uncle Alex was with us and that I'm really happy. I even invited her to visit! But don't worry, I'll keep the rest a secret."
The director gave Emily a playful scolding look, and slight annoyance dancing in her eyes. "Oh, you little troublemaker," she said. As she reached for the phone Emily handed over, Alex and Emily both noticed the brief change in her expression, as if she was slightly upset that Emily had mentioned Alex's presence to her godmother.
Taking the phone, Director White greeted warmly, "Eva? This is Asha. Happy New Year to you and Mori! Please give my regards to Little Colt as well..."
Director White was still chatting warmly on the phone with her old friend. From the conversation, Alex could sense that Eva had likely asked about him, as the director's tone shifted to one of fondness. She smiled as she said, "Oh, Alex? He's a good brother I recently found. He's been a wonderful help and support to me. Just like Harry—so talented and excellent in everything he does."
The two women shared stories over the phone, their laughter carrying through the room as they reminisced about old times.
As Alex listened, he gathered that Eva and her family were planning to visit City for the Chinese New Year. The director's voice lit up at the news. "Oh, that would be wonderful! I've missed you all so much," she exclaimed. "You and Mori should definitely come stay with us when you're here. Emily would love to see Colt, and it'll be so nice to catch up."
Emily, eavesdropping on the conversation, beamed at the prospect of seeing her godmother and her brother. "Mom, please tell them to come! We'll have so much fun!" she said eagerly, tugging at the director's sleeve.
Director White smiled and nodded, mouthing the words, "I already did," to her daughter before returning to the call. "Yes, yes, you must come," she continued on the phone. "We'll celebrate together. It's been too long since we've all been under one roof."
