Chapter 85 - The Keepers of Light

Leaving the Library of Shadows, The Sage Rat stepped into an entirely different realm. The space around him was filled with gentle light, as if the sky embraced the earth with warmth and tenderness. The ground beneath his feet wasn't ordinary soil or rock but transparent slabs reflecting the glow of the candle he carried.

In the distance, faint silhouettes began to appear, growing clearer as he approached. They were strange beings, each carrying its own unique light—emerald green, golden yellow, and even a mysterious shade of violet. These were not humans, nor entirely animals, but living entities seemingly formed of pure light and energy.

One of the luminous beings approached. Its form was ethereal, and its eyes shone like twin gemstones. Its voice echoed not through the air but directly into The Sage Rat's mind:

"You carry the flame from the Library. We are the Keepers of Light, guardians of the balance between knowledge and power."

The Sage Rat clutched the candle tightly, bowing respectfully. "I do not seek power; I only wish to bring this light to where it is needed most."

The luminous being smiled, its radiance growing warmer. "Those who seek light for the sake of others are often the ones chosen by the light. But your journey is far from over. The flame you bear will not endure unless you learn to protect it."

"I am ready" The Sage Rat replied, his eyes resolute.

The Keeper raised a hand glowing brilliantly, and before The Sage Rat, a long bridge materialized. The bridge was made of shimmering rays of light, suspended in the air. At the far end of the bridge stood a towering spire, bathed in dazzling brilliance.

"Within that tower, you will learn how to protect your flame. But be wary. This path will test not only your strength but also your faith and patience."

The Sage Rat gazed at the bridge, feeling the weight of the challenge ahead. He knew this task was not just about safeguarding the candle but also about proving that knowledge was not merely to be possessed but to be preserved.

"I will succeed" he said, stepping onto the bridge of light and advancing toward the radiant tower in the distance.

Behind him, the Keepers of Light silently observed, their luminous presence like a silent blessing, illuminating the path forward.
