Chapter 32 - Feedback and Problem

The following day dawned bright and clear, yet the Sage Rat stood anxiously at the edge of the village, glancing down the path, hoping to catch a glimpse of the chosen rat returning from its important mission. Hours turned into days, and as each sunset painted the sky with hues of orange and pink, the Sage Rat's worry deepened. The absence of its friend gnawed at its heart, filling it with an unsettling dread.

As the sun rose on another weekend morning, casting warm rays across the village, the Sage Rat's anticipation was suddenly rewarded. A familiar figure appeared on the horizon, but the relief was quickly overshadowed by concern as the Sage Rat noticed the weary stance and the slight limp of its friend. The chosen rat stumbled into the village, its fur ruffled and marked with signs of fatigue and injury.

"Quickly, come inside!" the Sage Rat urged, rushing forward to support its friend. Together, they made their way into the treatment house, a cozy nook filled with herbs and remedies that the Sage Rat had gathered over the years.

Once they were settled, the Sage Rat took a moment to assess the injuries. "What happened? How was your meeting with the Sage Raven?" it asked, eyes wide with curiosity and worry.

The chosen rat took a deep breath, wincing slightly as it shifted. "The meeting went well! The Sage Raven was pleased with the gift. It responded positively and shared wisdom that could benefit our village," it said, the excitement flickering in its eyes despite the weariness.

The Sage Rat's heart soared with hope, but it quickly interjected, "Then what happened? Why do you look so hurt?"

The chosen rat's expression shifted from excitement to apprehension as it recounted the events. "As I was returning home, I stumbled upon a rival rat colony near our village. They had been scouting for food sources, and I overheard them discussing plans to raid our supplies."

A chill ran through the Sage Rat. "So, they attacked you?"

"Not exactly," the chosen rat replied, shaking its head. "I tried to sneak away, but they spotted me. They didn't capture me, but I was caught off guard and bitten in a few places as I fled. It's not severe, but it feels like a declaration of war."

The Sage Rat's mind raced as it absorbed this information. A rival colony threatening their newfound peace was a serious matter. "We must act swiftly," it declared, determination surging within. "We need to protect our village and ensure our food sources remain safe. Gather the others, and we'll devise a plan."

With that, the Sage Rat began formulating strategies to unite the villagers against this looming threat, determined to protect its home and friends. As the sun set, casting long shadows across the village, a sense of unity began to form among the mice, fueled by the courage of the chosen rat and the wisdom of the Sage Rat.

The path ahead would be challenging, but together, they would stand strong against any adversity that threatened their newfound haven.
