"How many of these… past selves are out there?" Alastor asked the system.
"[It's difficult quantify, but a significant number exist. However, many are lost across different timelines. It's impossible to determine how many reside in your specific timeline]," the system explained.
The information hit Alastor like a ton of bricks. It was too much to process. Lost in time? Different timelines? His own timeline? What did any of it mean? And how exactly did his past selves get lost? Was he lost in some way, too?
The questions swirled in his mind, each one exploding like a firework, overwhelming his thoughts.
"[We'll discover the answer eventually]," the system suddenly declared.
Alastor felt a wave of confusion wash over him.
"Discover what, exactly?" he asked, his brow furrowed in bewilderment.
"[How many of your past selves successfully reach your timeline in pursuit of the shadow fragment]," the system replied.
