The silence that followed their victory in the Void was almost as overwhelming as the battle itself. Kael's body ached from the effort, every muscle screaming in protest, but he couldn't let himself rest just yet. The air was still thick with the lingering remnants of dark magic, and the Void's collapse had left a void in more than just the physical sense.
Elara, trembling but alive, dropped her staff to the ground and fell to her knees. "It's... over," she whispered, her voice fragile. "We've done it."
Kael helped her to her feet, though his mind was already racing ahead. "We stopped the heart, but this... this isn't over. Not yet." His voice was tight, his gaze fixed on the fading edges of the void, which flickered with residual darkness.
Thalion was less forgiving. "You always think it's not over, Kael." He wiped the sweat from his brow and gave the now-empty void a dismissive glance. "We destroyed the core of their power. What more is there to do?"
"We may have defeated the source," Kael said, his eyes narrowing, "but darkness like this doesn't just vanish. We've wounded it, weakened it. But it can return, and we need to be ready."
Elara frowned, her exhaustion apparent as she slumped against Kael. "What are you saying? That the Void might come back?"
Kael nodded grimly. "The heart is gone, but the remnants of its power are still out there. We've only won this battle. We need to make sure it's the last one."
---
They returned to Eldoria as champions, but the celebration was muted. Kael noticed the wary eyes of the city's citizens, who watched them with a mixture of relief and dread. They had won, yes, but everyone knew the price that came with victories like this. It was never permanent.
The council convened in the Great Hall, where Kael, Elara, and Thalion were greeted by the stern faces of the kingdom's leaders. Lady Arabella, dressed in her resplendent robes, was the first to speak.
"You've done well," she said, her voice carefully controlled. "The Void's heart has been shattered, and the realm is safe... for now."
"For now?" Thalion muttered under his breath, earning a sharp glare from Elara.
Arabella continued, ignoring the interruption. "But we mustn't grow complacent. Darkness lingers, even after the light prevails. We will need to fortify the defenses of Eldoria and send word to the other realms. They must prepare for the possibility of another attack."
Kael was about to speak when another figure entered the hall — a cloaked man with piercing eyes and an aura of authority that demanded attention. His name was Kiros, an enigmatic figure who had been part of the council for as long as anyone could remember.
"There's something more," Kiros said, his voice low but carrying across the hall. "A prophecy I've long feared. The Void's return was foretold, yes. But so was its second coming."
A chill ran down Kael's spine. "A second coming?"
Kiros nodded, his expression grave. "We've bought ourselves time, but the Void isn't truly gone. There is a fragment, a seed if you will, left behind in the ruins of the abyss. It will grow again, unless we find it first."
Elara's voice wavered. "How do we destroy it for good?"
"That," Kiros said with a heavy sigh, "remains to be seen."
---
Days turned into weeks as Kael and his companions worked tirelessly to fortify Eldoria. The once-lively city now resembled a fortress, with wards and enchantments placed at every gate, every wall, and every street corner. Mages from distant lands had come to lend their power, and warriors stood guard at all hours, vigilant for any sign of danger.
But it wasn't enough to ease Kael's mind. Every night, the same thought plagued him: the darkness hadn't been defeated. It had been pushed back, but it was still out there, lurking, waiting for its chance to strike again.
One evening, while Kael sat by the fire in his quarters, a sudden knock at the door pulled him from his thoughts. He opened it to find Kiros standing there, his face shadowed by the flickering light of the torches.
"There's something you need to see," Kiros said, his tone urgent.
Without hesitation, Kael followed the elder mage through the twisting corridors of the castle until they reached the lower chambers. There, in the deepest part of the fortress, was a stone altar that Kael had never seen before. At its center lay a single, pulsating shard — the remnant of the Void's heart.
Kael's breath caught in his throat. "I thought it was destroyed."
Kiros shook his head. "Most of it was. But this... this is what remains. The seed of the Void. It's weak now, but if it isn't destroyed..."
Kael clenched his fists. "Then we destroy it now."
"It's not that simple," Kiros said, his voice filled with regret. "This shard can't be destroyed by normal means. It's protected by ancient magic, older than even the Void itself."
"Then what do we do?"
Kiros hesitated before answering, his gaze never leaving the shard. "There's a way. But it will require a journey — deep into the forgotten realms, where the origins of this magic lie. Only there can we find a way to truly end this threat."
Kael felt the weight of the words sink in. Another journey, another battle. He had thought their fight was over, but it seemed the road ahead was longer and darker than he had anticipated.
He turned to Kiros, his resolve hardening. "Then we go. Whatever it takes, we end this."

Also I am thinking of creating a discord server. Though I use discord I don't know how to manage a server and add bots , their setups , etc . So it might take some time as I am starting to learn them.
