Yuto Saito, feigning an emotional tone, said, "Now that the world is ending, we should speak our hearts freely. Who knows if tomorrow we'll face stronger zombies or other mutant creatures? I might not survive."
"Don't say that!" Ni Shuang quickly interrupted, not wanting to even entertain the possibility. The thought of losing him made her deeply uncomfortable.
Noticing Ni Shuang's reaction, Yun Yun thoughtfully addressed Yuto Saito, "Yuto Saito, I appreciate everything you've done for us, but this isn't love. I think you and Xiaoshuang make a good match. As for me, please don't get any ideas."
It was a polite rejection. Despite the chaos of the apocalypse, Yun Yun still yearned for a monogamous life.
Yuto Saito decided not to push further. In her previous life, Yun Yun had focused entirely on increasing her strength, never allowing herself to fall in love.
Yuto Saito wasn't one to dwell on rejection. If someone made it clear they weren't interested, he'd simply move on. There were plenty of other beautiful and kind women in the world. He refused to become a desperate suitor, or a "licking dog" as some might say.
As long as he remained strong and had ample resources, attracting beautiful women wouldn't be difficult.
For now, his priority was increasing his strength. He realized that the team needed someone with the ability to enhance both physical and mental strength—a healer, essentially.
It was a shame that Natto didn't possess such a talent. Yuto Saito wondered who in the city might have the skills he was looking for.
At the same time, in a distant girls' dormitory, Ruoruo sneezed, chuckling to herself, "Haha! Someone must be thinking about me!"
In the early days of the apocalypse, fighting ordinary zombies was manageable. But as the zombies mutated and more monsters appeared, survival would become increasingly challenging.
Yuto Saito's immediate goal was to find a healer, continue battling zombies for spars, and expand the floating island.
Lost in thought, Yuto Saito didn't notice Ni Shuang watching him. She wondered if her sister's rejection had hurt him.
Softly, Ni Shuang asked, "Xiao Tutu, what are you thinking about?"
"Nothing," Yuto Saito replied, snapping out of his reverie.
Natto, curious, asked, "Xiaoshuang, did you just call Yuto Saito 'Xiaotutu'?"
Yun Yun, smiling sweetly, added, "I heard it too."
Ni Shuang playfully defended herself, "He calls me Xiaoshuang, so why can't I call him Xiaotutu? Isn't that right, Xiaotutu?"
"Whatever makes you happy," Yuto Saito chuckled as he started the car.
They drove a short distance before stopping in front of a supermarket. This time, all four of them got out.
As they approached the closed supermarket, Ni Shuang confidently stepped forward. "I'll handle this!"
With ease, she opened the rolling shutters of the supermarket.
"Xiaoshuang, you've gotten so strong!" Yun Yun praised.
Ni Shuang smiled, pleased with herself. "It's not bad," she said, then asked curiously, "Sister, what kind of talent did you awaken?"
Yun Yun's beautiful eyes glanced at Yuto Saito, and she replied with a teasing smile, "I'll keep it a secret for now."
Yuto Saito wanted to laugh; he already knew what her talents were.
Yun Yun, feeling the pangs of hunger, noticed some sausages on a nearby shelf. She picked one up, tore open the package, and caught Yuto Saito's gaze as she took a bite.
Seeing her eat, Yuto Saito suddenly felt a bit awkward and looked away, his discomfort obvious.
Yun Yun's face flushed slightly at his reaction.
Meanwhile, Natto, carrying four boxes of self-heating rice, announced happily, "Xiaoshuang, Sister Yun, Yuto Saito, I'll make us some self-heating rice!"
"Sounds good," Ni Shuang agreed. "I'm starving too."
Natto quickly prepared the meals, and the three girls sat down in the supermarket's dining area, enjoying their food while Yuto Saito focused on collecting vegetables, meat, and eggs, storing them in his ring.
Yun Yun watched Yuto Saito's actions with interest, not surprised by his mysterious abilities. She had guessed that he might possess dual talents, similar to her own.
Ni Shuang had already told Yun Yun about Yuto Saito's ability to control flying knives, which she assumed was a form of psychic power. Now, seeing him effortlessly store items away, Yun Yun concluded that he likely also had a space storage ability.
This man was indeed full of secrets.
