Chapter 2 - New goal

Chloe's P. O. V

"So, what is your next plan?" Thomas asked me while we were waiting for the marriage register.

"I will resume my modeling career. I want to be the top model in LA and want to show them my value," I replied with determination. Jane envied me because of my success and Dave feared that I might leave him if I continued my career. That's the reason I left modeling after our engagement. So if I start my career again then it would be a slap for both of them.

"My boss said he would arrange some big fashion shows for you to help your career," Thomas' voice pulled me back from my thinking. But how did his boss know my plans? He's not here. Then I noticed a small earpiece in Thomas' ear. So, his boss is hearing our conversation now.

"I built my career without any help last time. So, I can re-build it again without any help. Moreover, I still have some loyal friends in the industry so I won't need any help from your boss right now. I will ask you if I need to," I replied to him.

"Okay let's proceed with the signing then," he said.

"Take these cards, please," said Thomas forwarding me an envelope after signing the marriage registry papers. We were standing outside the register's office near my car.

I don't know if I did the right thing or wrong. But as long as his boss keeps his promises to help me get my revenge; it doesn't matter to me who he is even if we just got married without meeting each other. I have my new goals now. I have to make them pay whoever hurt and insulted me. I have to focus on my career this time.

"What cards? What is inside the envelope?" I asked him with doubt.

"Inside the envelope, there is a card that has the personal contact number of my boss and a credit card without any limit. You can call this number in case of emergency or whenever you need any kind of help. And the credit card is for your expenses," he explained politely as if I was his employer.

I took the envelope from him and opened it. The first thing that caught my attention was a black card with a golden border. There was only a number engraved in golden letters on the card. No names or addresses were there. Then I saw the second black card, the limitless credit card. I put the first card inside my purse and the second card inside the envelope.

"I am keeping the contact number but I cannot accept your boss' money," I told Thomas while returning him the credit card.

"You are his wife now and this is his responsibility to bear your expenses…..," he tried to explain more but I stopped him mid-way.

"Please, take it back. I have my own money and if I need money I will earn it on my own. I can't take it," I told him. He seemed hesitant for a few moments before taking the envelope from me.

As soon as I turned around I heard a mobile ringtone from my back. I guess it was Thomas' as it wasn't mine. I started walking to my car but I could still hear him talking on his phone.

"Hello, sir," he said respectfully before pausing for a long time.

"Okay, sir," I heard his last words before opening my car door.

"Madam, please wait a minute," I heard his voice from my back and looked behind. He came running to me with a scared expression on his face.

"Did something happen to you?"I asked him with concern.

"Madam, you have to take this card or I will lose my job," he begged to me. I felt pity looking at his helpless face. I looked behind him a black Range Rover with tinted glass was standing there. I guess his boss was in that car. After thinking for a few moments I took the envelope from Thomas. I wasn't going to use it anyway.

Austin's P. O. V

I saw her driving away in her car. Thomas opened the passenger-side front door and hopped inside.

"The job is done, Sir," said Thomas looking back at me.

"Have you planted a bodyguard for her?" I asked him scrolling through my phone.

"Yes, the bodyguards will be watching on her 24/7 and reporting you," he replied back. I nodded slightly without looking at him.

"So, we are heading to the board meeting or to your grandfather?" he asked.

"Let's go to the board meeting first. I will deal with that old man later," I replied and gestured for the driver to start the car.

"Here's the detail of the meeting, Sir," Thomas said showing his iPad to me. I took the iPad from him and looked outside the window.

I needed to get married urgently to keep the chairmanship of my company. My old grandfather made this ridiculous rule. If I didn't get married today, the chairmanship would have been transferred to my cunning cousin.

I proposed to my long-time girlfriend Natalia so that we could get married but she ditched me at the last moment. She chose her career over me. I won't forgive her for that.

But this girl Chloe, I never thought I would marry a girl like her if I had any other choice. She's from the same media world as Natalia. She was showing attitude a while ago but I know how girls are. They are all gold diggers. I have to keep an eye on her until the end of our contract. I can't trust her.

"Will you take her to meet your grandfather?" Thomas asked out of the blue.

"Not now. I don't know her yet. And I don't want her to be involved in my family too. She's just a tool to reach my goal for now. The future will tell if she deserve to meet my family," I replied nonchalantly.

Does she really deserve to be introduced as my wife?
