Chapter 128 - Chapter 128: Exhausting the Crimson Skeleton General

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"

"Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!"

The eerie beams from the Crimson Skeleton General's eyes shot wildly around and both Mo Fan and his wolf companion, the Winged Azure Wolf, could only dodge and avoid them as best they could.

While evading, Mo Fan noticed something troubling—the Crimson Skeleton General was absorbing the broken bones scattered across the ground.

It was repairing its arms!

After all the effort Mo Fan had put into breaking them, how could he allow it to restore itself so easily?

But unless he could unleash an even greater destructive force, there was no way to finish it off completely.

Yet aside from his demon power, Mo Fan didn't have any more powerful destructive magic left. His magical reserves, be they from his star rivers or star clouds, were already depleted. Despite everything, the Crimson Skeleton General just wouldn't die.

It was the first time Mo Fan had ever felt so powerless.

If it weren't for the fact that his light magic had a natural advantage against undead, even breaking through its defenses would have been a daunting task.

After all, this was a Grand Commander—a powerful being that could massacre a whole squad of high-level mages on its own.

"Chirp~~~"

Sensing Mo Fan's helplessness and frustration, his little fire spirit, Little Flame Belle, let out a soft, melodic chirp.

And then, Mo Fan felt a surge of overwhelming fiery power! It was intense, blazing hot.

It was a firepower not inferior to Mo Fan's own azure flames!

"Chirp!!"

It wasn't just calamity flames; even his own azure flames were being drawn in and controlled by Little Flame Belle.

As a Holy Spirit of Fire, Little Flame Belle was born with innate gifts. Normally, thanks to Mo Fan's own enhanced abilities, she rarely had to push herself to the limit. But now, sensing Mo Fan's emotions, she was experiencing a full-scale eruption of power!

Little Flame Belle could unleash both calamity flames and control Mo Fan's azure flames. She was forcing herself into a higher level of strength!

Feeling Little Flame Belle's determination, Mo Fan wanted to calm her down.

But if Little Flame Belle was giving it her all...

How could he back down? As always, he preferred not to rely on his demon powers unless absolutely necessary. Though those powers were incredibly tempting and powerful, without a certain gem to control them, the price would be far too great.

Besides, Mo Fan noticed something else—though he couldn't release high-level light magic, he could strengthen his star nodes!

The pile of souls he had accumulated allowed him to enhance his light magic star nodes all the way to the fifth level!

Strengthening to the sixth level would still be tough, requiring 49 commander-level soul essences, and even Mo Fan couldn't afford such extravagance.

Once his star nodes were strengthened, Mo Fan began to glow with a brilliant golden light.

"Celestial Flame Wings!"

The star map flashed—not just once, but continuously. The entire battlefield seemed to be bathed in scorching energy. Waves of powerful magic surged within Mo Fan, and his eyes sparkled with determination. With a shout, he thrust his hands forward, and a torrent of blazing fire erupted from his palms.

But this fire wasn't ordinary. It was a deep golden flame, brimming with immense energy.

The golden fire spread rapidly, forming a massive sea of flames. In the midst of this sea, countless tiny flame feathers danced, shining brightly like stars in the night sky.

Then, the sky began to change. A series of fiery patterns appeared, gradually forming into the image of a magnificent, soaring phoenix. Its wings radiated with intense heat, and its eyes were filled with majesty and mystery.

As the golden phoenix appeared, the scene became even more breathtaking. The fiery feathers in the sea of flames seemed to respond to its presence, gathering together to form a massive vortex of fire, spinning faster and faster, releasing an overwhelming energy.

When the vortex reached its peak, it hurled itself toward the Crimson Skeleton General. A gigantic beam of fire shot out from the vortex, like a meteor streaking across the sky, slamming directly into the target.

The Crimson Skeleton General was instantly engulfed by the golden inferno. The surrounding air seemed to ignite, and the golden feathers in the firestorm transformed into countless blazing arrows.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!"

"Boom, boom, boom!!!"

The golden arrows rained down on the Crimson Skeleton General, each one piercing its body. Although the feathers themselves were not particularly destructive, they carried the power of light, and each strike caused the Crimson Skeleton General's bones to crack!

For a moment, it seemed as though the Crimson Skeleton General might shatter like a fragile porcelain cup.

But even so, Mo Fan wasn't done. He gathered his strength once more. Though the Winged Azure Wolf was heavily injured, it still charged forward without hesitation.

This time, the Winged Azure Wolf didn't use evasive tactics. It lunged directly at the Crimson Skeleton General, engaging in a brutal melee.

Yet despite appearances, the seemingly crumbling Crimson Skeleton General was still as unyielding as a stone from a filthy pit.

Mo Fan's golden greatsword formed once again, and he too charged forward with his sword.

Little Flame Belle had separated from him and returned to the contract space to rest. She had expended a tremendous amount of energy, even forcing a power boost.

Now, Mo Fan and the Winged Azure Wolf would have to finish the fight on their own.

"Slash! Boom!"

"Clatter, clatter!!!"

"Slash!"

Mo Fan's sword of light struck the Crimson Skeleton General's skeletal body again and again. He no longer dodged its attacks—he and the Winged Azure Wolf were fighting like mad.

"Rumble, rumble, rumble!!!"

Finally, after half an hour of relentless, brutal combat, the Crimson Skeleton General began to collapse under the special light magic's crushing force.

It wasn't destroyed outright—it was consumed by the powerful counterforce, and perhaps by its own strange light-based powers.

Of course, the vast difference in their strength meant that the Crimson Skeleton General's fall left the Winged Azure Wolf grievously wounded, while Mo Fan wasn't much better off. Nonetheless, he used what little summoning magic he had left to send his companion back to the dimensional plane to heal.

Though Mo Fan was also severely injured, his gaze turned to the swirling vortex.

The silver vortex no longer spat out any more undead.

Clearly, Mo Fan's suspicions were correct!

It wasn't truly endless, and there was no so-called Gate of Death.

Before him, a door appeared. Mo Fan glanced at it, dragging his bleeding body forward as he staggered through.
